Pinkel's Letter to Students
Sent Tuesday morning:
Dear Students,
The MIZZOU Football Team and I would like to thank you for your outstanding support on our way to a 41-6 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The atmosphere of over 70,000 fans in the ZOU was one that our team will not forget. It began when we arrived at the stadium to participate in "Tiger Walk". Normally, we have hundreds of fans cheering us on but for this game there were literally thousands of fans setting the tone of what was going to take place later that night. Our players were greeted by many of you who came inside the stadium early to view our pre-game warm ups. Once again that enthusiasm gave our team an additional boost in preparing to take on the Cornhuskers. Finally, when our team took the field, the sea of gold was impressive. Gold Rush made the ZOU look intimidating to our opponents and it looked great on ESPN.
During the game, your enthusiasm and support could not have been better. We wanted you to get LOUD and cheer on the Tigers. If this was an exam, you received an A. The decibel level in the ZOU was at an all time high. This factor accounted for numerous false-start penalties by the Cornhuskers. We appreciate everyone staying to the end of the game. It brought great joy for our team to be able to celebrate this victory with you at the student sections.
I want the same kind of atmosphere on October 20th when we play the Texas Tech Red Raiders for our Homecoming game. Cheer on our team at Tiger Walk, arrive in the stadium early, exhibit good sportsmanship and be LOUD. These are key ingredients that you can do to assist with the success of our football team.
Thanks again for being the best fans in the nation!!!!
Go Tigers!!
