they did win the North...
…in the same way that Iowa State technically won the north in (I think) 2004. Technically they tied, although it’s lame to claim a title there.

Ummm…… how can they win when Mizzou played OU in the big 12 title game? On top of that Mizzou beat kansas the week before the title game. So please explain how they technically won?

Both MU and KU finished 7-1...
…therefore they technically “tied” for the title. We won the tiebreaker, and that’s why we were the only real North champs (and why it’s completely lame that they would try to claim it), but if they whip out a technicality, they can say they “won” the North in ’07.

It's kind of bogus...
but it’s the way the Big12 does it, they don’t split conference championships…we have shared several basketball titles this way even though we have beaten teams head to head but for some reason the Big12 only uses tiebreakers for seeding in basketball and the champ game in football, but nothing else. You’ll never hear me come out and lay claim to it but it doesn’t surprise me the media would point it out.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
