It's time to start revving up some Texas hate. The whole "mutual respect" thing didn't work as well last week as the "all out hate" worked against Nebraska.

So, consider this your open thread of Texas hate. I've started by borrowing from our conference colleagues in College Station.

Hey now...

I’m all for UT hate, but hating on the state is a good way to inch closer to my sh*t list. That’s my birthplace and home state, ese.

Seconded.

We can hate the University of Texas, but we can never hate the state of Texas.

Why, you ask?

I have trouble getting any hate on for UT

They have been pretty much irrelevant to me my entire life – except for 1997 when we beat them for Homecoming.

Texans, however…. I have no desire to offend you, but many Texans I have met clearly believe that the greatest thing to ever happen to the US is Texas deigning to join the Union. THAT attitude is easy to hate.

Maybe because Texas is to the United States what jelly is to peanut butter.

Sure, you can have peanut butter by itself, and it’s pretty damn good.

But when you combine the two? Magic, my friends, magic.

(Did I just type “my friends?” Channeling my inner John McCain?)

Texas is just a badass state. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb and say that it’s the badass-est state in the Union. Consider the fact that, per the annexation agreement, Texas can divide into as many as five states pretty much whenever it feels like it.

Now, Texas would never do that, but name another state that CAN do that. Exactly. Go (state of) Texas.

Texas is the most arrogant state in the union

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a Texan admit that the reason they joined the Union was that they couldn’t survive on their own and CAME RUNNING HOME TO DADDY. I’d like to see them take off on their own w/o any support from the rest of US and get humbled a little bit.

Whoever talked about taking off on our own?

Texas can’t secede or anything, and Texans might be the proudest Americans in the Union.

Don’t mistake pride in our own state for a lack of pride in America (f*** yeah). We just have an exceptional amount of pride to give, and we can give a lot to America and some to Texas, too.

Can you just PRETEND...

…to hate the state for the next four days?

Here's the thing.

I have no problem finding some dislike for the University of Texas. As RPT can attest, burnt orange starts to grate on you after a while.

No.

The university and the state are mutually exclusive. I hate people who associate the state with the university. I had someone ask me if there were mixed emotions this weekend with Mizzou playing Texas and I said hell no.

In the same way that my love of the state of Texas in no way hampers my absolute hatred of Texas Tech “University,” my love of the state will not get in the way of my bloodlust to beat UT this weekend.

Greetings from BON

Guys, just like we tell the aggies, you’ve got to read the rest of Psalms 75:10.

From the King James version: “All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”

Looking forward to a good game and some serious righteous exaltation. Hook ’em.

BOOO!

You and your classy attitude, being so damn nice and logical. BOOOOO!

(But no, seriously, good luck and here’s to an injury-free, fun game)

or if there ARE any injuries for Texas...

…they only last until our game is over. I’ll take a win any way I can get it.

Haha...

I looked up the verse and read the entire thing and thought “Wow, the Ags really did take it out context.”

You guys from BON are always welcome here and we’re looking forward to Saturday. Sorry for the impromptu hate thread, but considering it’s been a quiet, depressing week around these parts, we needed something to rally the troops.

Nothing rallies the troops like Missourians hating on the state of Texas

For the record, I’m from Chicago and have a similar sense of city pride as Texas does state pride. But that doesn’t mean I like everything from Chicago (See: that pitiful team that hasn’t won anything on the North Side).

yea

they’re always that way when they’re winning, just like everyone else.

funny….. they hate the holy hell out of Oklahomans and Aggies, but they expect the rest of us to treat them with respect all of the time.

it really bugs me they enjoy showing pictures at BON of little Sooner fans crying… like little kids, then turn around and use this “classy” shit on the rest of us.

It’s in Nebraska’s best interest that Mizzou loses to Texas, but I don’t think I’ll be rooting that way. And if you happen to beat them, and they happen to show some small Texas kid crying, be sure to get it out all over the place.

Harsh, corn blight

Not all Texas fans are great people, to be sure, same with any school, but I think generally we’re pretty good people over at BON. We just poke fun at the Aggies, don’t really hate for the most part, but I think we get a pass with the Sooners. If you can’t hate your biggest rival with completely unreasonable and unmitigated passion, then college football ain’t what it used to be (ask Rock M Nation how they feel about Kansas and see what their reaction is). We’re homers at BON, absolutely, but we love the game and the Horns and we have pretty high discourse most of the time. I’m sorry for however we may have offended your delicate sensibilities, sir. Feel free to tell us to our face next time.

As for the Missouri fans whom we have not yet offended to my knowledge, there’s nothing wrong with “revving up the hate.” I wouldn’t want anything less. We know you don’t REALLY mean it. We’re not Kansas after all. And you’re not Oklahoma. And thank god for both of those things.

Really?

And… how many Longhorn fans are here demanding Rock M Nation stop this? A bit bitter, aren’t we?
