While Pinkel has a good thing going in Columbia, you have to wonder if this is as good as it will get for him at Mizzou. If Pinkel can't get the program over the hump this year with the best quarterback, tight end and wide receiver in school history, it probably never is going to happen. The college football cognoscenti know Washington is a better job than the one he has.
Rivals' Tom Dienhart, on the now-open Washington job. Tom, apparently, is stuck in 1991.
(And he also apparently has a different definition of "over the hump" than I do. I would figure being on pace for 21-23 wins in two seasons is what most people would call "over the hump" for a program who hadn't scored that many wins in three seasons since the '70s.)

Besides, kids (recruits) these days don't give a damn
what program was hot 10 years ago, they care about what program is winning now. Success breeds success, except in rare cases, you can’t just skate by on a good past and expect the recruits to come to you.
What would make UW a better job?
Money? While there may be more money available to UW based on its proximity to Boeing and Microsoft, Missouri has shown that it will certainly put up the money needed to bring facilities and staff up to par with the best in the country.
Better conference? Big 12 is light years better than the Pac 10. In fact, I would argue the Big 12 North would be competitive against the top-6 teams in the Pac-10 head-to-head this year.
Better recruiting area? Sure Washington is closer to California than Missouri is to Tx, but Pinkel already has contacts in Texas and I’m pretty sure Washington is at best equal to Missouri in producing NCAA talent.
I juggle one handed, do some magic tricks and do the best imitation of myself.

I'm not worried about Pinkel leaving for Washington.
He’s in his late 50’s, and I don’t think he wants to start over from scratch. That doesn’t seem feasible, especially when he’s comfortable in Mid-Mo.
Now, Christensen is a whole different story.

Someone at PowerMizzou said they agreed...
about the “over the hump” part of the comment. My response:
Well you’re simply going to have to define what hump you’re talking about, because thanks to Gary Pinkel the hump keeps moving. He took us back to a bowl game: hump cleared. Then we won a bowl game: hump cleared. Went to consecutive bowl games: hump cleared. Became a consistently ranked team: hump cleared. Reached the #1 ranking: hump cleared. Won our division: hump cleared. Played in and won a New Year’s Day Bowl: hump cleared.
So we need to win the conference, play in and then win a BCS bowl, and win a National Title. The world isn’t actually going to end this year; I don’t think Pinkel’s time is up.

Ummmm...
“If Pinkel can’t get the program over the hump this year with the best quarterback, tight end and wide receiver in school history, it probably never is going to happen.”
…Yeah. That demonstrates Dienhart’s knowledge of the game. Teams MUST have defense to win titles, Mizzou just doesn’t have a great defense now. If our D was top 50, we’d have won OK State for sure. How do you move Mizzou’s D up a few spots? STOP PLAYING WILY MO AT NICKEL. Simple, really.
Now Colt “Thread-the-Needle” McCoy is a different story. I’m not sure Auburn’s D could’ve stopped him in the first quarter, two weeks ago.

That is one of...
…the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in Dienhart’s moronic ramblings did he even approach what could be considered a rational thought. I award him no points, and may God have mercy on his soul.
