Realigning the Big 12
On espn.com, Tim Griffin explores possibilites of realigning the Big 12. I know these two possibilities would never happen, but it is really interesting to read. I really like the idea Griffin proposes, but the Big 12 has not been an innovative conference since creating one of the first "super conferences." The idea of eleven conference game would spike interest, create more exciting schedules for fans, and increase revenue for the conference with a better TV contract. Griffin points out all of these and I really think the Big 12 should look into realignment to make the Big 12 a more competitive conference overall.

that's the stupidest thing i've ever heard
you’d break up mu-ku and Texas from A&M and Oklahoma? Plus, how in the hell is Nebraska in the West in this arrangement?
Well...Nebraska is West of here...
But I agree…some of his thoughts (like CU/NU at KC for neutral site) and OU/NU as an old rivalry instead of OU/UT just seems to be without a lot of actual thought.

If you read in the article
with the East/West format, it would allow for a cross-divisional game to be played every year. That way MU-kU could be kept and OU-UT could also be kept. Since the Big 12 destroyed the OU-NU rivalry, there would be no point of resurrecting it, especially since Nebraska isn’t a national power anymore. You could also arrange the teams differently (I just assumed he was correct by putting th six eastern and western teams in the divisions). I thought it was thought provoking since the Big 12 does seem lopsided year after year (minus last season).
Well..but Griffin seems to favor the OU/NU series
over the OU/UT series, since that was the series mentioned in the same context as MU/kU….

I think he chose OU-NU because he had A&M vs. UT already
But it’s still the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. And besides, the Big 12 has not been lopsided year after year. Nebraska and K-State were bona fide top-10 teams from about 96-01, the same period (at least at the beginning) that OU and UT were down. The North will come back around. There’s no sense messing with it anyway if there’s no easy solution.
