Are we sure the game is on ESPN360?

The ESPN scoreboard isn’t indicating that it is.

Hmm...

…might have been an assumption on my part, but I have no idea why it WOULDN’T be on 360…

3-3

putback for USC and Gibson split a pair, then Tiller knocked down a 3.

And now a dunk for USC. 5-3

It would seem radio stations actually are not supposed to be

streaming the games on their on-line sites…evidently it violates something in the contracts, so I think the fact I found the game on Thursday was a fluke

Game is at an interesting point

Anderson has made a point to play the “kids” in this tourney…but I think a win is bigger today for the program than the experience (of which there will be plenty more chances). Do you ride the starters right now for perhaps the better shot at the win, or do you stay with the gameplan of playing the freshman and perhaps not give your team the best shot to win?

I disagree

I think our ceiling becomes a lot higher the sooner the kids get a little seasoning, and since I don’t really see the NCAA tourney as a possibility, I’m all for seasoning. Does that make me optimistically pessimistic?

Well...given our lack of offensive movement

given our continuing of chucking up 3’s and missing free throws…does not look like it is going to matter who is playing today :-)

by The Beef on Nov 23, 2008 12:37 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

And since the alternative to playing the kids...

…is playing an okay point guard, a streaky 3-point shooter, an energy guy who’s a lot more valuable as a bench guy than a starter, and two PF’s who can’t shoot FT’s, I’m that much more for playing the kids.

If we are looking ahead then (given the seasoning we are seeing)

Wow….what happens to our somewhat non-existent inside game next season when we lose Carroll and Lyons? 30 3’s per game? :-)

Every time they take a 3...

…I think “Yeah, I’ll give them that shot” because either it’s 3 feet beyond the line, or the dude couldn’t figure out what else to do with it so he yanked the shot up…and every time I say that, they make it. Luckily I’m about to go to an open house, so I won’t be able to jinx us any more (since the USC lead has gone up about 8 points since I started watching live)…

Well..what do you think we should have done since he went to the bench?

Keep chucking them up from the outside or try to get our two leading scorers in rythym on the inside?

This may help you, but understand that I think Anderson needs to win THIS YEAR perhaps more than most, given what is going to leave our team and how we are going to go back to being a “young” team next year. Coming out of here 1-2, especially given how we played in the 2 is not my idea of a successful trip, regardless of the “seasoning” they are getting

I'm just watching the game.

I’m not extremely optimistic about the future of the program, but I know that a) I don’t feel like making harsh judgments every time they do something bad, and b) I’m applying the “Next Time” theory to Mizzou—the next time Mizzou’s actually good (which probably won’t be this year), it will be with the current freshmen, not with MLaw, etc. Everything is viewed through that prism.

Rock M Nation
Thrust nunchuk upward!

by The Boy on Nov 23, 2008 12:57 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Well..I am just looking at the program

and seeing not a whole lot new from year to year and game to game. And I am of the belief that without some change at a very basic and fundamental level, your “next time” may unfortunately refer to the next coach and not the next class of freshmen since I dont see much adjustment or coaching going on…just people trying to find their way perhaps at the expense of wins and losses which I view as (more) important (than you).

And if a live blog is not for talking about positives and negatives in a game…then I am not too sure what the point is :-)

check this out:

Just two short years ago, Puerto Rican ice hockey seemed to have a promising future. Prior to the start of the 2006-07 National Hockey League season, Puerto Rico became the first place in the Americas south of Florida to host a professional game when the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers faced off in an exhibition game at the 18,500-seat José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum (also called the Coliseo de Puerto Rico) in San Juan.

I checked the PR Tip-off Web site

and it was indeed for fourth place. The Seton Hall-VA Tech game is for third, and the loser gets fifth. USC gets sixth. Makes sense, because then 3rd and 4th will have 2-1 records and 5 and 6 will have 1-2 records.

They are gonna win almost all of their non-con games and might pull off a ranking going into Big 12 play.

With eight games to come against . . .

Nebraska, Iowa State, Colorado and K-State, there is opportunity ahead. This win was big for them. If they make it on to the bubble, this will be one of the key wins they point to. Cal and Illinois are going to be big opportunity games. And Georgia has been stfuggling. Good chance for a road win against a BCS school.

I'll say this much...

…a) Mike Kelly is soooooooooo much better at basketball than football, and b) nobody excites me more with monotone than MK. It was like an excited drone to his voice when he said “And MISSOURI HAS TIED THIS GAME” with 11 minutes left.

Nice win. It will always feel like we’re yanking up too many 3-pointers, but this team certainly has a lot more potential hot hands to ride. Granted, there won’t be many games where Tiller and Carroll go 6-for-6 from 3-point range and the rest of team goes 1-for-11 (actually, I NEVER thought I’d see that happen), but between Tiller, Denmon, M-Law, Paul, and English, chances are ONE of those players will be a relatively hot hand at any given time. That’s heartening…since we will clearly always be a team that takes a lot of 3’s whether we’re making them or not…
