ESPN Reports
Boarder War to remain in KC for 4 more years
This is good..if Missouri and Kansas can both field good, ranked teams for the next 4 years, and if they can manage to get a national TV contract. But one thing has been forgotten in all this...the buisness owners in Columbia and Lawerence.

This is YET ANOTHER home date Mizzou is going to lose, as they continue to play the Illini in St. Louis for 2 more years. But this year, Kansas is unranked...and the game is on FSN instead of ESPN or ABC, which takes a little of the luster off the game. This years game would have been played in Columbia, and this is a weekend that used to be circled on the calenders of the local buisnessmen because it always draws alumni well (I'm curious about how KU home games in Columbia stack up against Homecoming of the same year, dollar-wise).
Just a few thoughts that I've been having....

Alden says we'll still have 6 home games somehow
http://mutigers.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/112708aab.html
"Continuing this game in Kansas City helps increase the exposure to what we believe is one of the best rivalries in all of college athletics, and it furthers our mission of bringing the University of Missouri to the state and its supporters. We are very appreciative to Carl Peterson, the Hunt family and the Chiefs, and to the city of Kansas City for making this happen. We also move forward knowing that we will always protect having at least six home games each season for our Columbia community, and that will not change with this agreement,"
That means they either back out of the SMU game or renegotiate Illinois to be home and home starting next year.

I'm all in favor of a home and home series with Illinois
kU is the bigger rival, happens at the end of the year, all the more reason to have it at the neutral site in a big stadium, a la Red River Shootout for UT and OU.
Illinois is a “rival by proximity” and nothing more. Beginning a home-and-home series, I think, would be the way to go, regardless of the kU game. If nothing else, it gets us out of playing at the EJ dome, something I’m all in favor of seeing.

It wouldn't totally surprise me...
…if there were another announcement rather soon announcing the cancellation of the next two Illinois games. I know it’s been tossed around, and the aversion to five home games makes me think it may happen…

Truthfully...
…I’d rather have Blaineton Daltberter get his/their feet wet against McNeese State in the friendly confines rather than against Juice and the man who pisses intensity in the Ed Dome. But that’s just my feelings. I know that’s severely dumbing down the schedule. But it’s also scheduling a win.

I'm fine either way, I guess...
…but yeah, if there’s ever a year to dumb down the schedule, it’s 2009.
