Mizzou-SMU series dropped...

...according to Pony Pride. It's a subscription site, but you can see the headline. It appears that we're the ones who dropped the series, which makes sense considering we'll need an extra home game in 2010 now that the MU-KU Arrowhead deal has been expanded, and I believe we were scheduled to play in Dallas that year (I don't know for sure, as the mutigers.com Future Schedules page has already been updated. We'll see if the series is re-jiggered or just dropped altogether.

I think it happens with everybody...

…we just notice it when it involves us.

I'm lukewarm on the whole Arrowhead series

though I do think that it will be a big help towards winning the North next year (just as it was in 2007).

that's too bad...

I think this would have been a good series for us to follow through with, even if it was just one game down there. But…something needed to happen to balance out the home game situation in 2010, and this would be it. Look for a crappy home game to be added…which will only be funny if Illinois ends up backing out of the STL series as has been rumored often

If Illinois backs out...

…we can just sign up SMU again! :-)

Twisted Root Burgers

The king of burgers.

Illini runnin?

Of course Illinois is rumored to be dumping the St. Louis series…they’re tired of gettin’ their butts whipped on the field and outdrawn 2-to-1 in attendance at a neutral site.
I’d like to see Mizzou add the Memphis Tigers to the schedule – maybe a deal for football and basketball. They’d be sufficient fodder for a cake wake at Farout, and hopefully spice up the pot in a chance to play the Memphis Tigers basketball team in a home-home (did I mention how much I dispise the Memphis Tigers? Someone has to take down Cal, and I want that someone to be my alma mater).

I'm all for any arrangement...

…that ends up with me on Beale Street.

I have many, many memories of Beale Street.

And by “memories”, I mean “blurs”. The finest of streets.

I was just about to say what The Boy said...

but I would even be for a road/road series with Memphis…hell….I would take an Memphis/Ole Miss road game each season and be fine if they never played in Como

Beale Street

You’d think it would lose it’s charm…but I’ve lived here since graduation, and brother, it beckons me constantly.
Ole Miss? Ugh, I’d almost rather travel by crowded bus for 10 hours with Kansas fans than take another trip to Oxford (notice I said "almost"). I’m up for watching Mizzou play anywhere, but Oxford, Mississippi ranks just above “armpit of the world”.

i disagree

oxford is wonderful. How could you hate such a place?

Fuck kU

yeah...the way we were treated while tailgating in The Grove

you cannot convince me that Ole Miss is not a place I would not want to go back to

3 negatives there, Beef.

Do you want to go back or not. My brain feels twisted now.

by SleepyFloyd7 on Dec 1, 2008 8:15 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

also disagree

I’ll take pretty ladies in dresses saying “How y’all doin’, welcome to Oxford” any day.

by pehs on Dec 1, 2008 7:16 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I digress

Okay, I surender! I guess you take for granted what you see all the time. I earned my graduate degree in Oxford, and the charm of the Grove was lost on me. Although the eye candy was out in full force, I must admit. Southern hospitality I see every day, so I must be immune to it by now? I’ll say that Oxford Mississippi is two spots above “armpit of the world”, but I can’t go much higher than that…
