Ok, trying the 590 link
typically, stuff like this is blocked at work, but it lets me load the webpage. Hopefully, I can follow along on the game.

…perfect for us…we actually have the interior advantage, which is awesome…

You know the women play better fundamental basketball
that means it’s just as entertaining, right?

Gotcha. I saw you said "final"
but assumed you meant that it was the final of a early-season tournament.

Ben Folds Five
no, the national championship game
Ever since I saw North Carolina play earlier this season, I’ve been extremely impressed with their level of play….I’d imagine you’ll see most of those ladies on the National team and in the the W-League

29-11 with 11:15 left
and they’ve got 6 turnovers to our 0. Not too bad. Unfortunately, we’re shooting 1-6 from 3.
Anyone watching? Are they good shots, just not falling, or are we rushing down the court and trying un-needed 3s?
I juggle one handed, do some magic tricks and do the best imitation of myself.
Ben Folds Five
a little of both
I wasn’t happy with either of Matt Lawerence’s 3 point misses.

English's attempt was fine...
…and Denmon’s was off of a ridiculously nice skip pass from Carroll.

Nope, blocked
thanks, though. My company’s firewall is pretty strict, unfortunately.

Amazingly, the two sites I spend the most time on
RockM and Tigerboard, aren’t blocked as “entertainment”.
Thank God.

wow, Tigerboard isn't?
It was blocked when I worked at the State…of course, I had already sworn it off by that point, so it wasn’t that big a deal… :-)

I'm actually more surprised by Rock M
since blog sites are typically blocked by our firewall

At the under-8
36-16 Missouri
we’re shooting 60% (1-6 from 3)
5-5 from the stripe and they have 7 TOs.
I’ll take it!

Pretty sparse crowd at the Arena
They sufferin’ a hangover from last night?
"Wherever you go, there you are" - Buckaroo Bonzai
Sparse compared to a typical crowd at Mizzou Arena?
That would be what, 250 people?

I miss the old days
when you KNEW there was going to be 13,300 at Hearnes. Every game. Without a doubt.
by CPC on Dec 7, 2008 1:42 PM CST up reply actions
yeah
I remember a game in 98-99 when we played Wofford. I was just home from boot camp, and I got hooked up with what amounted to courtside seats. D section was pretty sparse, since it was during Xmas break, and the rest of the arena was pretty sparse too, since it was Wofford. The halftime score was 15-13 or something ridiculously low like that. They had a wheelchair game at halftime, and I swear they scored more points. We lost that game, but they announced 13,300 anyways.

Or, if you were playing Iowa
more like 14,500.

I feared for my life at that game...
…when Paulding hit that alley-oop, I thought D-section was going to collapse onto C-section…

I agree, but...
…that one was wide open. I’m okay with that kind of look. Overall, though, we’re killing them inside, so we need to make sure either Leo or DeMarre gets a look each possession…
One thing’s for certain, though…we SUCK at milking the clock. That was a horrible possession…lead could be cut to 11 after this and-one free throw..
Rock M Nation
Thrust nunchuk upward!
hot shooting has cooled...
…we’re still being nice and aggressive on offense, but the shots aren’t falling…still up 46-30 though…1:38 left…
Rock M Nation
Thrust nunchuk upward!
Nice play by Carroll...
…offensive rebound with :30 left, and he actually pulled it back out. It’s been about six years since I’ve seen a Mizzou team be smart about the clock.
Of course, we had about two good possessions over the last six minutes, but we were smart with the clock!
Rock M Nation

At the half?
Cal is feeling good, but damn Mizzou’s gotta be wondering why their quick start has faded
"Wherever you go, there you are" - Buckaroo Bonzai
part of it was that the hot shooting wasn't going to last...
…but Cal’s a decent defensive team, and they seemed to find something that worked over the last 5-6 minutes. We’ll have to make some adjustments now, or they’ll just keep chipping away.
Rock M Nation

We need this game

ummm guys?
Cal is in Berkeley, in the Bay Area. That’s not Southern California.
good timeout...
…Mizzou’s getting REALLY careless with the ball. And as much as I do love JT Tiller, I get scared every time he dribbles with his left hand…
Rock M Nation
Thrust nunchuk upward!
13-15 from the line. Nice
Now that we’re in the bonus, if we can keep hitting around an 80% clip, that will greatly improve our chances to hold on to this game.
I know that FTs caused us to loose the Xavier game, but since I don’t really follow the team that closely, has it really been that bad? Or, was that game just a fluke?

Xavier is that good
They went on to beat Memphis, too

6 TOs for Leo?
Is he being sloppy with the ball, or what?

I hate not being able to watch or hear the game
When all you see is that a player makes a TurnOver, you can’t know if he dribbled it out of bounds, or if there was a great play on a stolen pass or what….

I propose...
… that from here on out, Kim English be known simply as “Second Half” or Kim “Second Half” English
Wow, we're now 4-17 from 3?
good thing we didn’t stop shooting them.
Though I have to say I’m very happy about being able to bitch about 3-PT shooting when we’re up by 26 with 5 minutes left rather than when we’re only up by a handful.

At the under-4
86-60 MU
Both teams in the double-bonus
MU shooting 50% CAL shooting 35!!!!!!
MU is 5-18 from 3 (which is just under 30 where is close to where you have to be shooting 3s)
17-20 from the stripe
out rebounding 41-35
They have19 TOs, we have 15
Kim English just fouled out with 16 pts, 1 board, 4-6 from 3 in 14 min. Nice game.

Let's eat the clock and try to get everyone on the board
get out of here with a solid victory. Ramsey, Moore and Anderson are still off the board, and it looks like we’re trying.

So, uh, hold on a second...
…are we…really beating Cal? Are we sure this isn’t California School for the Arts? Has this been confirmed?

7 Assists for Tiller,
3 blks for Keith Ramsey.
Lawrence was an atrocious 0-4 from 3, 1-9 overall, but had 2 steals and 1 blk.

Matt played well....
…his soon-to-be replacement Kimmie played better, but Matt contributed on defense and rebounding despite not having his shot. Good to see. This team really does have a ton more options now than they have in a while…

First things first
Tom O’Neill is an absolute disaster of a referee, it’s almost staggering how bad he is at his job.
Other than that, we were great today. I really liked English holding his own when trusted with more ball handling, and he showed good effort at the defensive end as well. Tiller had me convinced he was going up with a shot on about 4 different fast breaks, then made great passes on every one. It seems that at least one of Denmon, Paul, and English step up the scoring load off the bench each game, it’s really good to see all 3 getting more comfortable. I especially liked Denmon taking the ball to the hole, almost with reckless abandon, and getting to the line. And I really liked English getting hot and building confidence in his stroke from 3.
