Fred White just used the phrase:
"Cat fight"
I have a feeling it may not be that entertaining...

Bramlage
Apparently more packed for this game than their milestone win over Kansas...

Offense
Execution looks good but shooting looks awful.
Matt Lawrence hits a three to end the drought. 6-3 KSU.

Matt Lawrence
Absolutely EMBARRASSED on the baseline for a dunk by Bill Walker.
Returns to hit a 3-pointer to cut KSU lead to 12-8.

Keon
hits three to cut KSU lead to one, but Wildcats respond less than six seconds later with a response three.
The 3-point shot is keeping Mizzou in this game. If these shots stop falling, the TIgers are in trouble.

Threes
Mizzou on pace to put up 32 attempts from 3-point range.
Bill Walker giving the Tigers fits inside at the other end of the floor.
by rptgwb on Feb 16, 2008 5:29 PM CST 0 recs
Mizzou starting driving the lane
But then on consecutive possessions:
- Leo Lyons drives to the hoop, then falls away from it to throw up a poor shot
- Butters drives from the corner and gets called for the charge. No word on whether the foul will result in a felony assault arrest.

K-State up 13 at TV timeout
Tigers without a basket in the last 4 minutes.
Missouri is getting to the hoop, but it looks like that's as far as they've planned. Once they get there, all hell breaks loose between poor shots, blown passes, and shoddy rebounding.

man...
...how much is Kansas State going to suck next year??

Touche
But let me counter with this:
How much do we suck this year?

Not as good? Certainly. Suck? I doubt it.

Haha
No harm done. But I've heard from too many KU fans how bad we'll be next year, and I think we have most talent coming back than most know.

Miracle
That's what it's looking like Missouri's going to need, and it also happens to be the name of the movie I'll be watching at 7:00 on ABC.
I'm a hockey whore, and I can't pass up anything involving the 1980 team...
As I type, Mizzou continues to look futile. Further analysis unnecessary.

MIZZOU SCORES!!!

Walker's out of his mind today...
...with Walker & Beasley rolling on both ends of the court like this, we might as well have chosen today to lay a big egg. Time to conserve our good efforts for winnable games. :-)

Revenge factor working
They aren't going to let this one slip like they thought they did in the game in CoMo. That loss to Tech probably didn't help any either.

Not only that
Both KSU and Mizzou have wrecked KU's perfect seasons this year.
They did their part in basketball, we did ours in football.

seriously...
...after their fans did the "beat KU" chant after we beat them in Manhattan, I just can't work up the hatred for them anymore...maybe it would be different if a) Bob Huggins were still there and b) Ron Prince were actually a threat in the North, but...yeah...just can't get worked up about playing KSU anymore...

I was preparing to type...
...that KSU and Mizzou are more like cousins than rivals just based on the KU factor.
That "Beat KU" chant in Manhattan was one of my favorite moments away from the field though.

Are you saying that to other North teams, or to K-State fans? ;-)

I'm saying that to...
... my skewed sense of humor/irony surrounding current events.
It's the only KSU-directed fodder I had. Most of it gets reserved for KU or Nebraska...

Tiller
The guy has to learn to stay on the floor when on the road. How much do Mizzou fans and coaches trust him to stay out of foul trouble for the rest of his career? Is that just something that is part of the Tiller package that just requires some adjustment of expectations?
by rptgwb on Feb 16, 2008 5:55 PM CST 0 recs
the answer to that question...
...is a) unknown, and b) the key to success in our immediate future. It's obvious that he's our complete heart and soul right now...the plus/minus when he's on the court and when he's not has to be pretty staggering...

Damn fine shot by M-Law to end the half
Now do that 15 more times and take a crowbar to the knees of Walker and Beasley.
52-31, KSU at the half.
by rptgwb on Feb 16, 2008 6:00 PM CST 0 recs
First Half Points
Further making me wish it was football season:
28+ FIRST HALF POINTS (football)
28 vs. Ole Miss
31 vs. Western Michigan
31 vs. Colorado
Mizzou's first half output against K-State in this game equals the amount put up in the first half by its football counterparts in games against Western Michigan and Colorado. Take away the Lawrence three at the end of the half, and you can include the Ole Miss as well.
Is that an indictment of MU basketball, or a nod to MU football?

Walker and Beasley
EACH with 3 personals.
I say this not because it could affect the outcome, but because it could keep them off the scoresheet.
As I type, Walker picks up No. 4.

I can't lie
I've pretty much completely zoned out at this point.
Speaking of zones, KSU continues to slash through them to get in the paint.
by rptgwb on Feb 16, 2008 6:37 PM CST 0 recs
Leo just twisted something...
Drives baseline, tries to spin, loses the ball, falls to the ground in pain.
Apparently he's moving alright, though. He responded the next possession by getting whistled for the travel.
by rptgwb on Feb 16, 2008 6:41 PM CST 0 recs
whistled for a travel...
...yeah, that means he's back to 100%.
That was mean.
And I'm not going to lie either--I stopped watching 15 minutes ago. Am catching up on DVR'd stuff now.

I love March Madness and all
But between the Stanley Cup Playoffs starting and the MU spring game, April can't get here fast enough...
As I type, Tiller fouls out and KSU goes up by 31. Time to run the 32-point play we've been saving all season!

Beasley
He's having the game I expected from him in Columbia, especially coming off the upset of KU.
36 points at the TV timeout...
by rptgwb on Feb 16, 2008 6:50 PM CST 0 recs
How did KSU lose in Columbia?
Wildcats up 40 as I ponder this.
- That's 4-0. FORTY.
by rptgwb on Feb 16, 2008 6:58 PM CST 0 recs
40? LOL....
...yeah, I think I'm enjoying the "best of slam dunk contest" thing TNT is running infinitely more than I would have enjoyed watching the second half...

Officially on the board for K-State now.
I can't even come up with a "40 Minutes of __" joke here.

is this season over yet?
hey, if you discount beasley's points, we win by three. sounds reasonable to me.

Props to RT, and I agree on the Spring Game, but:
I need some freakin' spring training ball.
Looking forward to the Fightin' Big Heads (WIU) coming to Lincoln, and Mizzou's annual trip Creighton and Lincoln to whip butt. And holding out hope for a CWS trip.
And yeah, I'm still a hopeful Cards fan this year. Looks like the Royals could have a better team though. Ugh...
Yeah, Spring Game is closing in :)

Professional baseball? Hard for me to get too excited...
I guess growing up a Texas Rangers' fan has that effect. [Insert plea for sympathy here]
