MU women upset Oklahoma

No. 12 Missouri upsets No. 5 Oklahoma in Kansas City at the Big 12 Championship tournament, 70-64 in overtime.

Details and analysis to follow.

Star-divide

How Mizzou stayed in this one early, I'm not sure I'll ever know. Alyssa Hollins and Jessra Johnson came out early and were awful from the field, with each sitting 3-for-16 from the field with 07:10 remaining in the second half. Amanda Hanneman drilled a 3 with 0:21 left to tie the game and proceeded to steal the ball from All-World center Courtney Paris to force OT.

In overtime, the Tigers did something well that has absolutely HAUNTED them all year: free throws. Paris opened the extra period with a jumper for OU to take the lead, but Hollins and the Tigers were in control from there on out, taking the lead for good and hitting 10 of 14 free throws to keep the Sooners at a distance.

The tournament win could do wonders for coach Cindy Stein, who has been under constant criticism this year despite her extremely young team. Wednesday, the Tigers face No. 4 Texas A&M. In their last meeting, the Aggies defeated the Tigers 62-43 in College Station.

I will let you hit the details and analysis

I was not too far off on my prediction of the Paris sisters outrebounding Mizzou, as they combined for right about 40 boards.  Mizzou shoots the ball so terribly, even when they win, but I guess the two things that stuck out to me as I was following the end of the game on the stat tracker

OU's Free throw shooting
MU's turnovers in the first half vs. the rest of the game

Congrats ladies, keep it going tomorrow...what the hell...you may as well :-)

Free throws

Won this ballgame for Mizzou.

CP3 got her numbers, but the real victory was minimizing the damage from the "other" Paris (Ashley). Ashley was extremely ineffective in the first half (much like Johnson and Hollins), yet neither team could build a lead greater than six.

By the way, CP3 just got her 90th consecutive double-double. 9-freakin'-0. She finished with 30 points and 20 rebounds. In a LOSS. Wow...
