Big-12 Baseball RPI rankings
I have been covering Big-12 Baseball over at Rock Chalk Talk for a couple of years. I update the conference RPI rankings throughout the season. Given that Missouri tops that list this week I thought this was a good week for a cross-post. The Tigers appear to be living up to their pre-season billing.
Big-12 wise, the only big shakeup came with Oklahoma State dropping from first to third, with Missouri and Nebraska both moving up. The Tigers and the Huskers are white hot right now. Missouri swept a home series vs. Baylor in convincing fashion, while Nebraska nearly swept a home series vs. Oklahoma. Nebraska won the first two games. The third game ended in a rare tie. On Sunday all games must be completed by 5PM in order to students to get back to their campuses for Monday classes. The final OU-NU game was called after ten innings with the two teams tied 9-9.

Wow..thanks for info there JQ
Glad to have you aboard.
Any knowledge/info on KU's team? I know they had some trouble out in Hawaii but thought they had bounced back a little bit. Any thoughts?
KU Baseball
Hi Beef and thanks, I write about three or four articles a week on the KU baseball team at RCT. It is hard to distill the season down to a few comments, but I'll try.
Starting Pitching, disappointing overall. Very deep staff of good arms. No ace. I expect improvement based on talent level. Czyz and Marciel are both much better than they have shown so far.
Bullpen, well above Big-12 average. A team strength. Bollman, Esquibel, Garcia, Bochy and Smyth stack up well with anyone in the Big-12.
Defense, not good at all. Allman, Robby Price, Preston Land and Nick Faunce are fine. Morrison, Thompson and Afenir are really struggling. It's a problem.
Bats, Okay. Above average team power. Above average batting average. Below average base running. Too many strikeouts. Too many games when no one seems to be able to make good contact. If Thompson, Robby Price and/or Preston Land gets hot they could score five+ per game in the conference.
I am still optimistic. I think the over-under on KU's Big-12 wins this year is twelve. I think they will finish in 7th or 8th place.
Andy Marks is coming back soon. And KU played 20 of its first 24 NCAA games on the road. So there are some rational reasons for hope.
Wow that is a tough road stretch
I mean...Mizzou used to do the same in years past (and of course get their first games "weathered" out, but that is a real tough way to start. Could build some character, at least you would like to hope so.
Great to have you aboard over here...will have to check out RCT a little more for the rest of your stuff.
