No prediction poll this week..
Mizzou's 2-4 record in games with an RMN prediction poll has me not wanting to tempt the baseball gods with Texas coming to town...

They just announced at our game it's 5-0 Texas. What's going on over there?
by TB on Apr 11, 2008 7:00 PM CDT 0 recs
wrong...
...it's 8-2. In the 2nd. Needless to say, the streak's over. Actually, I'm thinking this is going to end up something like 18-12...the wind is blowing out at about 40 mph...

Mizzou's hit 3 solo HR's in the 2nd...did I mention the wind's blowing out?

Wow
It's whipping in Manhattan, too. But it's blowing across our diamond, in from left, out to right (roughly). Our guys have driven to shots to left, which killed both balls.

9-7 UT...bottom 3rd...
...this game is gonna last 19 hours.
by The Boy on Apr 11, 2008 7:56 PM CDT 0 recs
so uhh...
...in a game in which he gave up 8 runs in the first two innings, Aaron Crow is in position to get the win. Mizzou scored TEN in the third, and in the bottom of the 5th, it's 19-9 Mizzou...Crow has pitched all five innings, giving up only 1 in the last three innings. Jacob Priday has 7 RBI's and 3 HR's. Again, it's the bottom of the 5th.

25-10 now in the top of the 7th
6 HR's on the night for us, glad to see Schmidt get a hit so everyone had one...damn this game is insane. Guess Jamieson's call out in the media about potential lineup changes helped a little bit....and a stiff breeze.

Good. God.
I thought that wind was ridiculous while on campus, which usually serves to block it out. I can only imagine what it was like at Taylor Stadium.

27-10 now...Priday with the following line
(8th inning, not likely he will get up again, but I guess you never know)
5-5
6 runs scored
9 RBI
4 HR
I really cannot think of a better line all time...
And I cannot get the classic Chris Berman overcall out of my head of Ripken's HR on the night he broke the games played record with his 2nd HR in two nights with the, "Oh my goodness, he's done it again"

Gray with a chance at his 3rd HR of the evening...dont think anyone has ever had one guy go 4 and another go 3....though I guess I doubt anyone had someone go 4 and another go 2 really.

27-12!!
Priday hit his FOURTH homer of the night in the 7th...he has 9 RBI's...poor Steve Gray and his 2-HR night are being totally overshadowed...meanwhile, UT has scored two more in the 8th...holy moly...

BTW, my apologies to your Devils...
Losing both on home ice. You could always become a Stars fan... (nudge). Game 1 was rather nice.
By the way, I'm definitely feeling an NHL Playoffs open thread in the diaries. Any takers?

I knew it was coming...
At this point, I am ALL about seeing the Caps win, (watched their game last night in its entirety and it was really probably one of the 5 best games I have ever seen), the Pens win, the Wild win and the Flames win. Caps and Pens because it is good to have Crosby and Ovechkin playing on stage, the Wild to win because it is ALWAYS good to have MN playing and the Flames to win because I love their fans. Honestly, it is good to have the Rangers winning also, as ALL sports benefit ratings wise by having a NY team in them. Hockey needs to have a great playoff season, these things would help.

damn...
...Gametracker had me confused, but Jamieson subbed Priday out instead of allowing him to bat with the bases loaded in the 8th...was personally hoping he could go for a grand slame...and naturally his replacement (Meyr) got himself a 2-run double...30-12...

In all of this...I give TJ a LOT of credit
I mean...it made no sense to waste your pen on Friday night so he left Crow in there...and then the game turned so quickly he could leave him in there. Using only two pitchers to UT's...um...I dont know...7 does set us up better for the rest of the weekend.

I was about to comment...
...that the most amazing part about this whole thing is that we used two pitchers in a game that featured 43 runs. Sweet jesus. And it finally ends at 31-12. I'd happily take that score this October in Austin!

and it is all over....31-12
TONS of credit for an outing which will be totally overshadowed and lost in tonight's performance will be the 4 innings and only 3 runs from Zagone to close it out...clearly he did a nice job of keeping the ball down and ate up some great innings to keep the pen fresh for the rest of the weekend. Hopefully this can build some confidence for him for midweek and as we inch closer to the end of the season

What an insane game!
I was at the KU-TTU game in Lawrence. The wind was blowing out in Lawrence as well, but I guess not nearly to the same extent. There were four home runs hit in that game. KU won 9-5.
Near the end of the game, around 6:30, the wind gust started to grow stronger.
Well, I guess this MU-UT boxscore is one to go over a few times. This single game will add more than half a run to Texas full-season ERA.

Unreal
I left to go to a movie and it was 8-3 Texas. I'm driving home and my buddy calls to tell me it ended up 31-12. Imagine my surprise when I learned it was Mizzou who scored 31. Uhh, great game, guys. Insane.
I guess our six runs against Baylor look rather pedestrian at this point.

all I know is...
...we're destined to lose 5-1 today or tomorrow. We scored 25 against Tech a couple years ago, and then we lost a game 5-3 later in the series...

...anybody know why gibson's pitching instead of berger?
by The Boy on Apr 12, 2008 2:31 PM CDT 0 recs
Trrip had said last night or this morning
That he expected to see Gibson pitching per some comments I assume Jamieson made...maybe they are just switching their spot in the rotation.
Whatever the reason, consider it another well-pulled string by TJ this weekend. Gibson has thrown 7 marvelous innings with 9 K's and we have a lovely 10-1 lead into the bottom of the 7th

yeah...if you had told me we would have given up
13 runs through two (almost) games, I would figure we would be 1-1 at best...never really seen 44 in two games though.
As I was thinking about last night's game, I dont even think that set a stadium record for most runs combined since I seem to recall us winning some game over Okie State in the mid/late 90's 24-20.

Just like someone finally got to Crow
The Horns are the first to finally get to Berger. Berger throws 5 IP, giving up 7 runs (all earned) on 8 hits.
Mizzou down 9-2 in the bottom of the ninth with only one out remaining. Barring a miracle, this one's over. But still a good series win against a good Horns team, despite all the extenuating circumstances.
