A recent slump has seen the team go from a national power to .500 in Big 12 play. A series win, or, to be greedy, a sweep would be huge in trying to recapture the mojo as the stretch run begins.

this is far from a "last stand" of sorts...

...but we reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally need a big weekend.

Our radio guy...

on that home run by Priday:

"That'll be lifted into left and it's hit eight miles."

Your bats have awoken.  We're f*****.

lol, nice...

...though we were up 8-2 on ATM last Friday and lost, so...yeah...

Y'alls fans...

...really seem to be into this one.  They are noticeable on the radio.

Nice game, Mizzou

Sure wish they'd give us a warm-up inning, we might win some games if we could stop giving up five runs in the first frame.

thanks...

...though for a team supposedly based on its starting pitching, wins like this aren't the most encouraging for the long-term...but beggars can't be choosers right now.

So, TB...

...what about spotting us 5 runs in the first two frames...is that better?  :-)

by Bill C. on May 3, 2008 2:45 PM CDT reply actions

Haha, not really

but then I'm sure you were expecting that answer.

Hutt doesn't usually get hit like this, so this is not encouraging.  We really need to get a win behind Hutt every time he takes the mound, and right now he's not holding up his end of the bargain.  Hope he settles down...quickly.

Once again...

...the bullpen has turned a big lead (8-1) into a save situation (11-7, bases loaded, one out in the ninth).

by Bill C. on May 3, 2008 4:56 PM CDT reply actions

And just as I bitch...

...Scooter Hicks induces a game-ending double-play.  Mizzou wins 11-7.

Big game tomorrow (today)...

...Mizzou is 1-5 on Sundays in Big 12 play--they beat Baylor in the opening series and have lost every Sunday since.

We won the 1st! We won the 1st!

My God, I'd almost forgotten what it was like to get to the second inning and not already be down 4-0.

well...

...we've had 6 baserunners in the first two innings and scored 1 run...on an RBI ground out.  That 'timely hitting' thing we were talking about?  Ugh.

by Bill C. on May 4, 2008 1:50 PM CDT up reply actions

3-2 Mizzou, top 9...

...and Scooter Hicks, pretty much the only steady reliever over the last couple weeks, has put runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out...would REALLY suck to blow this one after actually putting up a decent Sunday effort for once...

by Bill C. on May 4, 2008 3:42 PM CDT reply actions

KSU with the RBI sac fly...3-3...

...now runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs for Tepesch...

by Bill C. on May 4, 2008 3:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Can we petition the NCAA...

... to not hold any NCAA Tournament games on Sunday? Can we get that paperwork from BYU?

by RPT on May 4, 2008 4:31 PM CDT up reply actions

well, technically...

...I believe if we win on Friday and Saturday of Regionals, we might not play on Sunday.

Oh wait, I think we do...nevermind...get the Mormons on the job!
