There's really no need for me to spit out the cliche "It's a big weekend" garbage at this point. The Tigers drew one hell of a tough draw, but isn't that what they said about the Malibu regional a few years back? It's put up or shut up time for Tim Jamieson's Tigers: Win or Go Home. A game schedule can be found after the jump by clicking the post title.

Alright...I will pick this up...

Mizzou down in order in the bottom of the 4th, still up 1-0

Mizzou scored their run in the bottom of the first off of a leadoff walk, single, HBP and FC by Priday, but did squander the chance to put up more runs in the inning.

On to the 5th

Go Big-12!

I don’t love the Tigers, but I absolutely hate SEC baseball so I am 100% behind Missouri in this one. SEC baseball fans think the entire sport revolves around their declining and arrogant conference.

I’m listening to the Ole Miss Yahoo broadcast at my office. Crow sounds like he is doing great.

I believe Oregon State did a great job of knocking the SEC down a peg or two the last couple of years. Would love to be able to continue the trend, though after my tailgating experience in The Grove this past year, it is truly hard for me to hate ANYTHING about Ole Miss

I know Ole Miss and Arkansas have great fanbases

It is the provincial superiority complex that so many SEC and ACC fans give off that really bugs me. Georgia would have finished 4th in the Big-12, yet somehow they get to host a Super Regional over Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M.

Georgia, handed a super regional seed by the comittee, goes down to Lipscomb 10-7

The SEC went 3-5 today, the Big-12 5-1.

For some reason results like this happen each year, yet the selection comittee keeps gift wrapping invites to SEC bottom dwellers and passing over teams like Charlestown. Is it better described as denial or insanity?

Thanks for the good words…though every time I’ve found myself realizing the KU winning wouldn’t be a bad thing, they’ve lost. I think you’re just using reverse psychology here. :-)

...Lance Lynn is leaving the game with a 3-1 count on Senne. Supposedly he’s getting a blister or something, though as Tex just pointed out…dude’s at 125 pitches, so it’s probably about time he comes out anyway. Decent performance from him, though he could still end up giving up 5 runs in 6.1 innings if Lollis comes around to score.

BCU ties it up...

A two-out, two-RBI triple by No. 8 hitter Mark Brooks ties the game, 4-4, heading to the bottom of the sixth.

Burgos still in the game for BCU. The Wildcats (and for that matter, Mizzou) REALLY need Burgos to last as long as possible and keep the BCU bullpen from being exposed to Miami’s Murderers Row.

Instead, BCU lift Burgos going into the 6th...

To which Miami responds with this progression:

- Single up middle
- Sac bunt
- Single to left plus fielding error (run scores)
- Hit batsman
- Groundout, advancing runners to second and third
- Intentional walk

Bases loaded with two outs for the clean-up hitter, Mark Sobolewski. BCU’s hopes likely hang in the balance.

He's trying to pick his corners

Is it possible to give up a four-pitch walk and still say it looks like he has outstanding control? Because that’s what happened.

It looks like he is hitting exact spots right on the edge or right outside the zone. It looks like he’s putting it right where he wants it, which is nowhere near anywhere the Miami hitters can do anything too dangerous with it.

Curve is moving and fastball is humming. Slider not doing much of either.

That's the danger of this lineup...

If you pitch them to the corners, you’re probably going to walk them—and giving an order this talented free passes is never good. However, if you attack the hitters, you’re probably going to give your fair share of hits and even a few longballs.

The majority of them were extremely close

One of the more liberal umps with large strike zones might be willing to given a lot of those to BG RZ. No argument on them though. The ump’s zone seems pretty ‘by the book.’

Outside of the pitch Jackson ripped foul, everything else was just good pieces of hitting by the ‘Canes.

Turk Wendell FTW

From wikipedia: * Wendell insisted that the umpire roll the ball to the mound rather than simply throw it to him (If an umpire would ignorantly throw the ball to him, Wendell was known to let it go past him, or even to let it bounce off his chest, after which he would retrieve it from the ground). * Whenever he began a new inning, Wendell would turn and wave to the center fielder and wait for him to wave back before proceeding. * At the beginning of each inning, Wendell would reportedly draw three crosses in the pitcher’s mound dirt. * Whenever his catcher stood, Wendell would crouch down. * When entering or leaving the field, Wendell would always take a tremendous leap over the baseline. * Wendell would chew black licorice (an alternative to the chewing tobacco used by many players). * Wendell often brushed his teeth between innings (some claim that he brushed between every inning). While brushing, he often hid in the dugout, either by ducking behind objects or by facing the wall. * Wendell forcefully slammed his rosin bag onto the pitcher’s mound between outs. * Wendell wore jersey number 99, in honor of Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn, the main character in the movie Major League (played by Charlie Sheen). In addition, in 2000 he signed a contract worth $9,999,999.99.[1] * Wendell wore a necklace made from the claws and teeth of various animals he had hunted and killed. * While in the minor leagues, rumor was that he drank only orange juice (no food or any other drink) on days he pitched. But he also claimed to drink four cups of coffee before each start. * Wendell sometimes threw his glove into the stands when leaving a game.

We scored 3 in the 5th with a 2-run single from Senne and a fielder’s choice by Priday, and then 2 in the 8th with the wind-aided HR from Gray. Lollis-Senne-Priday due up to start the 9th for Mizzou.
