The greatness that is the Gold Rush shirt for 2008.
Major hat tip to Big Head at Mizzourah, who has plenty more on the subject. And I'll have to agree that gold rushing a neutral site game is a little bit of a waste.

I see it a little both ways..
I can see that side of the argument, but I think the bigger picture may be that the idea of “gold rush” may be done for games at Faurot, in that the expectation is that EVERYONE be in gold for EVERY game, except for the black out game. In essence, you are putting a gold shirt in the hands of a good amount of people to start off the season, hoping they will continue to wear it as the season goes on.

I'm hoping so as well
I definitely see both sides, especially since there is no marquee home game this year like last year where you can expect that same electric atmosphere. I hope all Mizzou fans are on the same page and rather than saying “I bought a black/white shirt and damn it I’m going to wear it!” elect to help make Faurot as gold as possible. It will be nice to see the Jones as gold as the Alamodome was crimson last year, I’m just concerned about burning a promotion for a home game – a concern that will be rendered moot if all the fans get on the same page.

I think this certainly says something...
...about the quality of the home slate this year. After the massive success of last year’s Gold Rush, I assume any future Gold Rush games will simply go to the biggest home games of the year…and since none really qualify as any bigger this year, go with the Illinois game because it’s bigger than any home game and you have hope that a) Gold shirts + late kickoff = repeat of Nebraska last year, and b) as you said, folks will have gold shirts to wear the rest of the year.

Yeah...
The stadium looks that much sweeter with everyone rocking gold. I’m on board. The concern is spreading the word. The older alumni are hard to reach.

I think in this case, the AD may finally be on to something with the students
The amount of student participation was at a level I had not seen in my 13 years since I started here (and honestly, I know a thing or two about student participation). I think here the AD may get the alums to take their cues from the students. So between that and getting the alums to buy this gold shirt now….hey….that is two pretty good ways to get nice coverage of gold out there.
