Mizzou Football Game Notes vs. Illinois
This is the official press release given by our SID to the media leading up to the game against Illinois.
Missouri vs. Illinois Game Notes
Interesting facts:
- It says Chase Daniel was our first-ever Heisman Trophy finalist...what about Pitchin' Paul Christman?
- Jerrell Jackson: It's pronounced juh-RELL. Will his son kneel before Zod?
- De'Vion Moore: It's pronounced Devin. IT'S NOT SPELLED DEVIN!
- Tremane Vaughns: It's pronounced TRUE
- Austin Wuebbels: It's pronounced WEB-uls.
- Missouri is 9-1 in its last 10 season openers, but apparently we opened the season last year against Western Michigan?
- The last time that Mizzou defeated a ranked opponent in the season opner was in 1978, when unranked MU won a 3-0 game at #5 Notre Dame. Nothing else significant happened that day.
- Missouri is 14-8 under Gary Pinkel when playing as a ranked team, including 9-2 in 2007.
- This marks the 4th straight game that Mizzou has played versus a ranked opponent, and they've all come on neutral fields.
Anyway, there's TONS of great info in here. READ ON!

That's absurd.
There is exactly no way that D-E-apostrophe-V-I-O-N is pronounced Devin. No way.
Deh veeon. Forever and ever, amen.

I can only guess...
Missouri is 9-1 in its last 10 season openers, but apparently we opened the season last year against Western Michigan?
…that they meant home openers?

Chance McDanielson for Heisman
I thought that, too
but they have Illinois listed for 2002 and 2003. So…it’s a pretty big flub really.
