Iowa State: Community Projections

1. Simply because we lost last time we made this trip, and we didn’t just pound them in Columbia last year, I have to think it’s in the neighborhood of a 3.

2. I believe I said 31-10 in the Roundtable.

5. Depends on if somebody else yanks him away soon—if they do, he might max out at 6-6/7-5 before leaving; if he stays in Ames for a while, I could see him popping up with an 8-4 (or 9-3 with a super-easy non-con slate) at some point.

To the questions:

1. On a scale of 1 (Oklahoma vs North Texas) to 10 (USC vs Stanford), what’s the upset potential of Mizzou at Iowa State?

Sheesh…I had to think about the scale a bit before I could answer the question. I will say the answer is…um….6? Game in Ames, so that counts for a couple of points…but to the point of the wonderful ISU writer from the Q&A, I think we will know more about ISU in their non-con and if they were able to keep the momentum going from last year.

2. What’s your official MU-ISU prediction?

For all the credit I would like to give Chizik and Iowa State and for how they played us last year, I just cannot give them too much here. I think the team will remember two years ago and even the sub-par performance from last year and just be workmanlike in their effort. I say ISU may certainly be better than last year, but the score might not reflect that. 34-14

3. ISU held Chase Daniel to 250 yards passing and only 1 TD pass at Faurot last year. What will Chase produce this year at Jack Trice?

Damn Jack Trice and that wind tunnel it creates. Based on that, I do not feel our game this year with them will be one featuring much of a vertical attack. That being said, I can see Chase ending up with around the same 250 yards, but being more effective and perhaps throwing 2-3 TD’s instead of 1. Let’s be honest, there is likely going to be a lot of pressure for him to perform week to week from the standpoint of the Heisman race, and I believe that will be seen in some play calling as the season wears on.

4. Give us a W-L prediction for ISU (schedule below).

In the round table I went with 5-7 I think, I will stick with that.

5. What’s the best record Gene Chizik will achieve in his time at Iowa State (taking into consideration how long you expect him to be there)?

I expect the best he does is 8-4 before moving on…this is not a slight against his character or the school, I just do not perceive him as one to stay there for a long duration with his first BCS conference head coaching job.

1. No matter how bad Iowa State is they always worry me. I give this one a 4.

4. I’ve got them at 4-8… only because I think they’ll get beat by Kent State. Not sure why, but that’s how I feel.

1. I will give it a 6. Its a conference game and they played us well last year in Columbia. I dont believe we will lose, but there is always a chance, always.

2. 3-4 Touchdowns

3. So I just did a wiki of Jack Trice to see what the stadium is like, and goodness the story of Jack Trice is sad. Fuck Minnesota. But since this is a Chizik defense, I’ll say 273 yards and 2 to 3 TDs.

4. I cant nail down an exact record, but I will give a range from 2-10 to 4-8. Thats the limits on this team.

5. I think Chizik is a good coach and I actually believe he will have success there. I will throw out a 10-3, including a bowl win. in the words of Garnett, Anything is Possible.

5. I think the ceiling is a 9-3 regular season and a North title. I’m not ready to say the ceiling includes a conference title.
