Let the Discussion Start....Bradford to Return
First....H/T to ghtd36 for posting first...I moved it up to the front page...
So...a few discussion topics:
1. Can OU contend with Texas and their returning fire power now in the Big XII South?
2. Smart move by Bradford? Most had him as a top-5 pick...
3. We all know Bradford will say this is about winning a title, but is this more about refining his game?
4. How much are you looking forward ghtd36's/Stoops thoughts on this?

Wouldn't be surprised if he turned into Mark Bulger after the pounding
he took from Florida.

I think it's a bad move for Bradford ...
… yes, he’s smarting after losing the title game. But damn, he’s got a Top 5 to Top 10 contract staring him in the face. Now we have no idea how much he’s getting paid at OU, but it’s certainly not Top 5 money. Although you never want to begrudge a kid for staying and finishing a degree: Take the money now kid. You can always go back and finish that degree.
That’s not even taking into account the fact that OU loses 4/5 of the Berlin Wall in front of him. Now granted, it’s OU, so it’s safe to assume that they’ll have 4 VHT players to replace all those guys. But still, there’s going to be a little dropoff, you’d have to think. Plus he’s going to lose a couple of his best receivers as well.
But, if it all works out and he wins a title and a second Heisman, then he’s got a shot at College Football God status. More power to him I guess. But it’d be awful hard for me to tell my son (or player, for that matter), to pass up millions of dollars in guaranteed money. Hone your skills at the professional level son. They’re paying for your potential.

A couple people at Football Outsiders just had a pretty good point...
…we might all be overthinking or overanalyzing this—he may just be making the decision not to go to the Lions. That’s as good a reason as any!

but
don’t you think he could have said pre-draft “i will not play for the lions” a la eli and the chargers? i don’t want players to start doing this all the time, but if he did this, and the lions drafted him, and he actually DID refuse to sign, their recent history would drive their fans so far over the edge that they’d be forced to trade him to make something out of it OR they wouldn’t draft him at all due to the fear of this exact scenario.
also, i love run-on sentences.

I think the Lions would be better served taking Andre Smith anyway
You can’t take a rookie quarterback if you don’t have a decent o-line first, or Bradford will become the next David Carr.
Besides, from Bradford’s perspective, who’s to say the Lions won’t have the No. 1 pick next year?
