I must say, I'm proud to have done my part.

Every time you see Bob Stoops, Tim Tebow, Carol Stoops and (most especially) Frank Alexander, I know you’ll think of me.

It's not often

that I listen to the National Anthem at sporting events anymore. I’m tired of it being butchered and “interpreted”. But whoever that was did an okay job until the end, then she butchered it.

by CPC on Jan 8, 2009 7:08 PM CST reply actions

I'm torn.

Yes, Oklahoma has Billy Sims, disrespect, and the RUF/NEKS, the biggest jagoff fans in college sport (and I should know something about jagoff fans). But Florida, despite its most famous fan Orson from EDSBS, also had Steve Spurrier, endless hype, Erin Andrews interviewing fellow Gator/noted wearer of Crocs Tim Tebow while appearing to be, as they say, “in heat”, and jean shorts. (No wait, they BOTH wear jorts.)

I’ll just be rooting for a split national title tonight.

It's a funny name.

I suppose this is the big matchup

Florida played to type on defense.

What will the OU defense do? I think (hope) they’ll be better than the regular season where they had so much instability. That’s the game for OU. Can the D play better than the season numbers?

Really, the only time they were truly unstable was when they had no idea what to do at middle linebacker. Once Box and then Balogun figured out what they were doing, the defense was fine again.

Two MONSTER losses for OU

they can’t feel good about that.

I always go for it on 4th and goal. I thought they should have thrown on 3rd down.

On the last play, I’m of the "why take a chance on a bizarro play? opinion. I definitely kick the ball with 10 seconds left. That was foolishly aggressive ESPECIALLY because Bradford threw it short of the end zone. If you run a play in that situation it almost HAS to be a jump ball.

In some ways I feel like the OU players have shown up, but Stoops (and the OC) hasn’t gotten off the bus yet. Play calling in key situations has been less than sound. OU is soundly outplaying Florida. They should be up by at least three.

Also, the real reason that people don’t like OU is because the don’t know how to be good WINNERS…but of course they don’t have to worry about that tonight.

bingo...

…everytime I read something about SEC speed, I gagged and wanted the Big 12 team to win, but then I remembered what life would be like back in OKC if they won, and I became torn again. In the end I did root for OU, but I can’t say I’m going to lose any sleep over this result…Florida didn’t win because of “SEC SPEEEEEEEED!” They won because Tim Tebow threw better than anybody thought he could, and the three or four plays that decided the game when Florida’s way. Play 100 times, and OU wins 45-48 of them.

I'll tell you what's worse than that...

Living and working in SEC country where all the 2nd-tier schools try to live off Florida’s reflected glory. As long as their best team wins, the conference is God’s gift to football. It doesn’t matter that the conference had exactly two impressive wins in the bowl season. Even in this game I didn’t see altogether superior athleticism.
