God...
We’ve had like seven commercial breaks since the TAMU/OSU broadcast started and there’s been zero seconds of football played.
Wow...that is really not a full house down there at aTm
I dont think I have ever seen that place that empty…especially for a conference game.

Question
Why does the quality of every Fox Sports channel suck balls? Every game I watch on FSN looks like it is from 1998.
I don't have hd
I’m just talking about how the color is always a little lighter. The intros, graphics, and music all seem low quality.

I am typically a fan of Oktoberfests...
and I will say that I think Schlafly has really brought up their game of late. I think their Oktoberfest is really tasty. I think their pumpkin is the 2nd best south of Flatbranch and they make an export IPA in the summer that is one of my five favorite beers.

dumb timeout by OSU...
…they were about to get a delay of game, so they called timeout…only, it would have only been about a 2-yard penalty and the difference between 3rd-and-33 and 3rd-and-35…should have just saved the timeout…

kerry meier FAIL
that’s 2 dropped passes in a row.
"The field mouse is fast but the owl sees at night"
I didn't see this discussed on the game thread
So I’ll give it a shot here: What the hell were we doing going for it on fourth-and-20 the other night? We had had one play of longer than 20 yards all night. We should have tried the FG to cut it to 20-15, or alternatively tried to pin them deep. We had no chance of getting it, and there were still ~5 minutes left.
Sorry, but it’s still bothering me two days later. And yes, I realize it might not have made much difference.
Try not to take me too seriously
It was a 50-yard field goal...
…so the odds of missing it were pretty high, and if there’s a good chance you’ll miss the FG, why bother?
Rock M Nation
Thrust nunchuk upward!
Because there was a better chance you'd make a 49-yard FG than making it on fourth-and-20
And if you were willing to give up the field position anyway, why not try? Or why not punt? They had muffed 17 of them already.
Try not to take me too seriously
They wouldn't have gone anywhere near the ball if we punted...
…let’s put it this way.
A 50-yarder on a wet turf with a new holder = we’ll say 35% chance of making it. 35% of 3 points = 1.05 points.
Converting on 4th-and-20 and going down to score a touchdown = maybe 10%. Could be less, who knows, but we’ll go with 10%. 10% of 7 points (we’d have gone for two, but go with me) = 0.7 points. The FG was a better bet, but with no guarantee that we’d get the ball back, it was probably worth the 0.35-point risk.
Rock M Nation
Thrust nunchuk upward!
You're right about the punt, but I disagree on two points
(1) we had much less than a 10-percent chance of converting that. Gabbert had NO time to throw all night.
(2) Those extra three points were extremely valuable, considering a stop and touchdown would have won it for us, not gotten us within a two-pointer, which certainly wasn’t a sure thing anyway.
And if you have 5:24 left and all three timeouts, you just have to assume you’ll get the ball back. If you don’t, then you’re assuming you simply can’t stop them.
Try not to take me too seriously

my first game back in Columbia since I graduated…university is jacked all day about the prospect of getting a #1 ranking again and going to Texas for a 1-2 match up…all to be ruined. Kind of a perfect day with a nightmare ending.
I want blood…
hard to be impressed by what we did Thursday...
but keep in mind your expectations going into this season. While the loss is disappointing, it just proved that our redshirt sophomore QB can play like a redshirt sophmore QB sometimes. It also showed how piss-poor our offensive line is.
I may be completely off base here, but I would think that the loss of Dez Bryant would be equal to us losing Jeremy Maclin last year. The loss of Maclin certainly would hurt us, but it doesn’t take away the effectiveness of the other position players on the team. I think the loss of Bryant could add on 2 or 3 losses to their season.
Do we need to discuss how AWFUL Illinois is?

It's amazing how shitty their fans are...
I get it. There are bad fans in every fanbase. Nebraska has the largest percentage of shitty fans. Yes, even worse than Oklahoma and kU.
I’d put Husker fans at 40-50% shitty. I’d say most fanbases are less than 10%. Oklahoma and kU maybe a little larger than that. It’s amazing how impossible it is to have a rational conversation with a Husker fan. Some are good to deal with, but man, a lot are horrible.
I was amazed by our loss in Norman in '07...
by how rational OU fans were. I’ve had a couple encounters with terrible ones, but they are usually a good bunch. Stuff I read from them, though, is different sometimes.
What's impressive is that...
…a lot of the people posting this stuff are the same ones who were soooooo proud of how great Nebraska fans are when that ULL radio guy said they were the best fans he’d ever seen.
Yeah, ULL guy, you went there and they beat your team, who they have no prior connection with, 55-0. It’s pretty damn easy to be a good sport when that happens. Come back when Colorado, Missouri, or K-State is in town, and see how awesome they are then.

Hell, when I went down to Norman for MU/OU in 2007, they were the most gracious hosts ever. Then as soon as they felt threatened/concerned/disrespected during the week of the Big 12 championship, they turned into completely different people.
Yeah, and everyone...
…talks about how great Texas A&M fans are, and in my trips down there they’ve been very gracious. But I bet a Texas fan hears about that and just laughs, because it’s a totally different thing.

Most Texas fans are bandwagoners.
Bet you have a Texas fan living right by you. Ask if they know any Texas player from the 80’s. Any.
Bingo.
I hate the "classy fans" argument. It assumes a uniform reality covering a large group of people that simply isn’t true.
And EVERY FREAKIN’ DAY there’s an argument about class going on. All teams have it, and all teams don’t. I wish we could declare an official moratorium on the subject.
Talking about class is so unclassy [/every fan discussion ever]
It's like in Napoleon Dynamite...
…when Napoleon says something is the greatest ever, and Kip answers “Oh, right, like you could even know that, Napoleon.” There’s no way to quantify it, so stop talking about how you have the classiest fans in the nation.

Blocked punt for Bama
Second-and-goal now
Try not to take me too seriously
And, of course...
Bama has to settle for 3.
The Tide are trying their damnedest to make the LSU/Florida winner sit atop the BlogPoll
174-13 edge in yards, 2-0 in turnovers and a blocked punt
And they’re up 9-0. That’s astounding.
Try not to take me too seriously
TB- How is Snyder recruiting this year?
Going more JUCO or high schoolers? I know how he used to, but didn’t know if that changed.
So far...
…it’s pretty even. We have seven high schoolers and six jucos. He pretty much has to get back to high schoolers as much as possible with the gaping hole in our roster we’re going to have after this year when the great Ron Prince experiment class graduates. I would guess you’ll see around 10 total juco guys this year.
Overall, I’m fairly happy with the recruiting. We may be going after Cam Newton, a good dual threat juco quarterback. If we get him, I’ll be pretty optimistic.

Was talk of Tennessee going after Newton or Matt Simms.
I like Newton, but he burned so many bridges in the SEC. I think a B12, B10, or Pac-10 school would be better for him.
He’s not horrible at all.
I've got to add....
It drives me nuts when CBS feeds recorded versions of fight songs into broadcasts.
'Bama's defense really has to be the best in the country...
…that, and FO couldn’t have possibly been more right about Ole Miss*.
(* I can say that since I had nothing to do with the projections that said they’d end up around 6-6.)

something else funny regarding my roommate
just read a news report out of San Fran that some lady who lived down the block from him this summer was enslaving her nanny.
Another waaaay off topic, umm, topic
A co-worker, who I’m friends with, has approached me about marrying her and her fiance. I feel a little weird about it, but can I say no? I guess I feel a little strange about doing the ordained minister online deal. I probably have about two weeks to take her up on it or give her the ‘no dice’. Wedding is in May.
good buddy of mine did it for us
he was ordained already, but we had a good experience with it

i had given pitt up for dead against uconn and here they’ve not only tied it up but forced a 3 and out and have the ball w/ 6 mins left
My Goodness
How can UCLA have no qbs at all?
Oh, and INT by ’Bama as Ole Miss was in the red zone.
Bad year by Snead so far.

Snead picked again...
Returned about 70 yards inside the Ole Miss 20. Snead stared down his receiver like his target a topless chick running through a library.

This has been a pretty weak 2:30 slate
Weak enough that I’m actually staring at the clock waiting for Tech and K-State to kick off.
Last couple of weeks have been good in this time slot
I guess we were due for a few duds.

How does that happen?
The receiver is sitting on the ground, bobbling it to himself and McClain comes over and just takes it out of his hands.
Seriously.
I have the promo CD from Illini athletic dept.
I’m not kidding about turning it into a coaster.

Bowling Green gets a 1-point win over Kent State. The numbers?
Tyler Sheehan: 44/63, 505 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT
Freddie Barnes: 22 rec., 278 yards, 3 TD
I picked Bowling Green to win the MAC East
Didn’t think they were a joke at all.

I have to brag...
Me, Uribe and Boom walked in and turned on the TV to see Hawkins and CU in the red zone. The following is what transpired:
Boom: “Oh, hey, CU is in the redzone.”
RPT: “So then it’s time for a pick six. Who gets it?”
Boom: “Um, that guy that dropped the pick against Tech?”
RPT: “No, Earl Thomas is going to run back a pick on this play.”
BAM. INT by Thomas taken the distance. Cue RPT jumping up and down and acting like an idiot.
He's a witch!
