For anybody who's looking for some Friday mid-afternoon reading material...
...and has already polished off Bill Simmons' latest picks column, here's my latest Varsity Numbers. Have tweaked the week-to-week format of these to keep up with season storylines...so far, this one seems to work pretty well.

Buffs over Hawks?
Really? Bill, I’d love that more than left over Imos, but seriously? Methinks that’s more wishfull thinking than reality. Buffs have more holes in their game than Dunkin Donuts, regardless of how they looked against Texas (which was, I think, experiencing a typical “trap” game as they were looking ahead this week to the Texas State Fair).
Remember the good ole days when playing Colorado was actually threatening on your schedule? Yeah, I can’t either…

To play devil's advocate...
Remember the good ole days when playing Colorado was actually threatening on your schedule?
Remember 2007 when they beat Oklahoma? The team Mizzou couldn’t beat in TWO tries?
Which part would you be playing Al Pacino or Keanu Reeves ?

Remember...
…my own opinions had nothing to do with the picks. And hey…the projections nailed UVa > UNC! And like I said…I think that projection is saying more about KU’s problems than anything good about CU…

Thrust nunchuk upward!
as crappy as cu has looked this year
i think sooner or later they are going to jump up and smack somebody at home. i just hope its tomorrow and not in 2 weeks. that said, they’re still looking at a max of 3-4 wins this year
Small sample sizes make for interesting as hell S&P+ Top 25s
I don’t think I could get away with the following on a BlogPoll ballot:
3 Tennessee
4 Nebraska
5 Arkansas
14 Wisc
16 Texas
19 Nevada
24 Iowa
25 Cincy
This makes me wonder
what happened to front page friday?
Does it become a front page saturday for sunday games?

Anyone tried fried butter?
Never been to the Texas State Fair, but I would think that deep fried butter is either (a) Heaven on earth or (b) cardiologist worst nightmare. Probably both.
