Mizzou doesn't play until late tonight, so hop in the national thread to talk some football, shake off the rust, and get into full gear before the evening. You know the drill - state what you're watching and what you're drinking, then have at it. GameDay just said OU feels disrespected

So which do you REALLY want?

A Texas win and a night game next week?
Or an OU win, a 2:30 start, and a ClusterFork for the BCS championship game?

Hello, folks

Good morning from (one of?) the West Coast Correspondents.

Sadly for me, today is one of those suburban saturdays where I am overprogrammed.

I’ll watch some of OU-UT.

Some of USC-ND.

Off to a big Las Vegas food fesitval.

And then it’s off to watch the Utah Utes destroy UNLV’s football team. At least until the kid gets bored. Which, considering UNLV has only forced their last two opponents to punt twice in 120 minutes of football, it could be very quick.

And then home for Mizzou-Okie State.

I’ll be drinking whatever swill the stadium has on tap later tonight.

I’ll probably have a Sam Adams while at home.

Ah yes, the overprogrammed suburban weekend

Am waiting on the Queen to get back from a high school homecoming parade this morning.

We have furniture to pick up and a lawn mower to drop off

We tried putting our hardware on our kitchen cabinets last night, but the screws were all too short.

Will be (like a guy with a whore on pay day) in and out this afternoon

Texans use corny dog as the appelation for the hot dog covered in batter and deep fried.

But outside of the great republic of texas, corn dog is the more common term used.

I’m sorry.

The last two weeks (against Nevada and BYU):

122 points against
49 points for
1384 yards allowed

UNLV can’t stop ANYONE right now. They are team turmoil.

It’s homecoming here this weekend, which is why I’ll be at part of the game.

There is a very good chance the program will not have a head coach Sunday morning.

From the 2009-10 CFB rule book

Fumble
ARTICLE 1. A fumble is any act other than passing, kicking or successful
handing that results in loss of player possession (A.R. 2-19-2-I, A.R. 4-1-3-I
and A.R. 7-2-2-I).
Muff
ARTICLE 2. A muff is an unsuccessful attempt to catch or recover a ball
that is touched in the attempt.

In brief,

A muff occurs while trying to gain possession

A fumble happens after one has possession

Well....

What’s funny is that Newton never got fully appreciated because of the Southlake offense. The hype will ALWAYS be surrounding the QBs in that offense.

Aaron Luna had to be the most unheralded player in high school football history. Teams would ALWAYS key on Chase Daniel, then Luna would silently gash them on draws for 150 yards a game.

Am I allowed to drop OU out of the Top 25 this week?

Or am I going to be yelled at again because now OU has only lost by a total of 5 points to three good teams?

I agree.

Your logic was absolutely sound. But now the SAME EXACT CASE can be made, but because the L column says 3 instead of 2, the argument somehow becomes illegitimate.

by RPT on Oct 17, 2009 3:06 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Obviously the argument becomes less legitimate with three losses.

Kind of goes without saying. Though looking beyond wins and losses, their resume is STILL better than a lot of the teams that will be ranked above them.

Oh man, you should have seen the losers who sat behind me last Thursday

I was sitting on the alumni side and some moran sold his tickets to Nub fans. These were two grown men, one probably in his early 30s and the other in his late 40s or early 50s. The tone was set early, when Helu ran for a three yard gain. They screamed “YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH” for, with no exaggeration whatsoever, a full minute. Right into my ears, surrounded on all sides by gold. They started talking shit and then called our fans classless when we fought back. Then they were trying to act like The Classiest Fans in America when their team was playing like ass, saying things like “Okay guys, it’s just a game, how about we just root for our team and you root for yours.” And then when the Tigers pooped all over themselves in the 4th, they started screaming again, “YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAHH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAHH AWWWWWW WHERE’S EVERYBODY GOING? I CAN’T HEAR YOU ALL NOW!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH”

It was so bad that my mother turned around and told them to shut up and act like adults.

Now officially cheering louder than my Texas Tech-grad brother.

What do tigers dream of when they take a little tiger snooze? Do they dream of mauling zebras, or Halle Berry in her Catwoman suit?

I almost bought that fight

so glad I saved my 50 bucks and watched the British feed….

We bought it...

But I had like eight guys over here, and once divided, seeing that knockout was TOTALLY worth it despite the brevity of the fight.

Awww, Ricky Hatton.

The David Eckstein of boxing. He’s white, gritty, good enough to be a force on a bad team, but once faced with legit talent, he can’t hang. Aww.

I concede.

While we’re at it, though, can we take a moment to laugh at former Tech WR Joel Filani, who I think because the first fifth-year senior in NCAA history with an undeclared major?

Pour one out.

Filani, FTW.

I remember him

He had a hell of a year in 98…confused the hell out of me when they were both playing though.

Well

NU losing is morally satisfying, helps us in the big VII race, but won’t do much for our Strength of schedule numbers. So on balance, WOOOT TT!!!

We're not winning a national title anyway, so i don't give a hoot about SoS

Also, it’s not the Big 7 ;)
