Big 12 Cross Country Championships in Columbia
I know there aren't too many running fans out there, but Mizzou will be hosting the Big 12 Cross Country Championships tomorrow at A. L. Gustin Golf Course. Men run at 10 am, women at 11 am.
Mizzou's teams will be in the middle of the pack, the women should finish slightly higher than the men thanks to a nice freshman class. The #2 Oklahoma State Cowboys and #5 Colorado Buffaloes are the favorite on the men's side. For the women, #2 Colorado is head and shoulders above the rest of the field.
If you need one reason to care or even hear about this race: Jenny Barringer of Colorado. She's an Olympian and American record holder in the steeplechase, the collegiate record holder in the 1500, 3000, and 5000, 7 Time All-American and faster than about half of the Mizzou men's team. She'll probably only run for the win tomorrow, but she's one of the greatest American runners ever, and she hasn't even gone pro yet.

I'm surprised that anyone is ranked above Colorado's Men
They had won every Big 12 title until last season. Incredible. Training at altitude is quite an advantage, eh?

It's an advantage if you don't spend too much time back at "normal" altitude for too long
blood cell concentration eventually reverts closer to the mean, because it is in efficeint to spend that much energy for new eurithrocytes when you are in more Oxygen.
Partly why Kenyan runners do ‘shifts’ running races. No one awesome runner is racing for more than a week or so, then they go back to Kenyan to trail at elevation.
Or you get those elevation tents, and sleep in them every night. That would allow you to extend your time at lowered elevations and retain that ‘edge’.
