Making my triumphant return to Missouri
Or something to that effect. Anyhow, I haven't been to see my family in the Columbia area in over 3 years and I figure it's time to take my 10 month old home to see the family. I'll be home during Thanksgiving hate week and instead of going to Kansas City to the game, I think I'll just enjoy the game at a bar in Columbia.
But which bar? Harpo's is at the top of my list, unless someone has a better idea. Also, it'd be cool to meet a few of the other peeps on here that aren't going to KC.
To make this 75 words, I've included a recipe for Bacon Popcorn:
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup bacon grease
- 3/4 cup unpopped popcorn kernels
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt, or to taste
- 3 tablespoons bacon bits (optional)
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (optional)
Directions
- Measure the bacon grease into a 6 quart pot and place over high heat. Add one or two popcorn kernels as testers. When the test kernels pop, add the rest of the popcorn and cover with a lid. As the popcorn starts to pop, shake the pan back and forth constantly to keep the unpopped kernels on the bottom where they can pop. When the popping slows down, remove the pan from the heat and let it finish popping.
- Pour the popcorn into a large bowl or paper sack. Season with half of the seasoned salt and stir. Taste before adding more salt if desired. Toss with bacon bits and shredded Cheddar cheese for an extra special treat. Store leftovers in lunch sacks or sandwich bags.

Oh I'm absolutely sure about bacon popcorn
No way that wouldn’t be fantastic.
As for bars…hmm…not sure…I really try not to watch the game around people I don’t know… :-)

A good bar that is underrated
Trumans over next to Shakespeares West.
Open by 6am, and real, frosted glass pitchers!
No little plastic pitchers, no pitchers with the little ‘cooler’ metallic thing in the middle.
Real.
Glass.
Pitchers.
That are frosted.
They serve some awesome “OMG I can drink all day after this” breakfast stuff, and their Habenero BBQ wings will kick the H1N1 right outta ya!
Of course I am a bit biased that bar was across the street from our Apt. in CoMo and I spent many Saturday mornings there during football season, Pre-funking before the tailgate. It has been about a year and a half since I’ve been there, but it was really fun, and not your typical ‘dive’ bar either.

That guy
freaked out my girlfriend’s roommate. For some reason she’s scared of little people. No clue why, but it was always good for a laugh.

Okay, I retract everything that I said
apparently, my family, who knew I wanted to either go to the Kansas game or hang out with friends in Columbia to watch the game decided to have Thanksgiving dinner on the 28th. So, now I get to go to do that and watch the game with family. The flip side to this is the 21st is still open, so I’ll probably make it to the Iowa St. game.

most likely
I’ll probably spend a little time with my uncle at his tailgate (northeast corner of Providence and that road that goes between Faurot and Mizzou Arena). Might go to a tailgate on the east side of Hearnes if the people are still there. But I’d love to meet the RMN gang. I’ll shoot you an email.
