Former Tiger Justin Gage breaks bones in his back
Former Mizzou Tiger WR and hoopster, and current Tennessee Titan WR, Justin Gage apparently broke bones in his back on a catch during the Titan's last game against San Francisco.
He is likely to miss at least one game. The tone of the article did not make the injury sound career-threatening. Let's hope that's the case. Get well soon Justin!

And he's your answer!!
I consulted my Grant’s Atlas of Anatomy (10 ed), which you should all get, for this. The transverse processes are the lateral protrusions off each of the vertebra. These structures serve as attachment points for ligaments that secure the ribs to the spine, and for tendons for the various muscle groups in the back. If these are non-displaced fractures (meaning they are cracked, but did not move), then the mess of muscle, ligaments, and tendons will hold them in place. yes, like the article states, Justin is going to have back pain for a few weeks. However, he should be able to play, relatively safely, after two to three weeks. this may be just do to the increase mass of muscle in his back, which further helps hold it all together. But, the pain during his play is going to be there.
what we’ve learned here is it’s not a good thing to fall six feet onto your back.

So, you're saying I should not get up on that ladder and clean my gutters this weekend?
Thank you.

Well
I wouldn’t say that…just don’t lean back, or decide to take the nestea plunge into the yard, thinking it’s water.

and don't front flip off of a basketball hoop into your yard
thinking it’s a basketball court that is actually somehow made of liquid. as if in a sprite commercial.
