It appears as if we will have the guard play to be competitive in the big 12. However do you guys think we have the post presence?

by The Oracle on Nov 17, 2009 6:51 PM CST reply actions

To be determined.

I think the development of Steve Moore tells the story. If he becomes a viable 4th option, the ceiling bumps up considerably. If the rotation is stuck at Ramsey/Saffy/Bowers, they could be in some trouble.

Hope he does good

He is from right down the street here. I hope he turns into a stud. He seems to of put in the off season work. You can really tell a difference from last year to this year.

A VEB person!

I just migrated over here. But anyway, I agree…I’m not in panic mode or anything, but yes. Offense is where the work is needed right now.

I'd much prefer to have offensive troubles from our guards than forwards

Replacing the mid-range jumpers and inside play was going to be the most difficult part of this year’s transition. The guard play will certainly pick it up! Shots will eventually start falling.

What's up with Tiller?

Just got out of a School Board meeting and Mike Kelly made it sound bad in the post-game.

His right foot?

Well...here are my thoughts...

For as strange as this might be for me to say, I think we needed to actually slow down a bit tonight. Every time we took a deep breath, we moved the ball well and landed a very good shot. When we sped back up again, we jacked threes we did not need to jack.

The 4-21 from 3 and the season of 10-54 from three does not make me feel good inside.

I took the Tiller injury as the guy landing on his foot, but it seemed like Mclaughlin and Sundvold never saw it.

Rebounding effort in the first half was lacking a good deal.

Kim English…eeeeehh…I just hope he did not heap TOO much pressure on himself. And I hope he is OK, but dude just needs to take a deep breath.

Ramsey and Bowers had great games, and they should have given the height advantage. They also fed off of one another very well in the half-court game.

I really liked what I saw out of Steve Moore except for the fall-away two footer.

It was something of a maddening game for me, certainly much for the coaching staff to work with in the coming days.

I know, I know..Bob Bummer and all. I was impressed by the speed at which UT-M played and their guy dropping 30 was impressive.

KE is just playin like he

wants to bomb 3s and sign autographs. Who know’s how long HCM Anderson will let him get away with it. But he needs to cut the crap and play ball or sit on the bench until he figures it out. I really like the kid but that’s my tough love for him.

by B_W on Nov 17, 2009 9:26 PM CST up reply actions

I think there is some fair truth to that

and while I certainly hope he is healthy after the bump on the head, I hope that is not used as an excuse for his play. His decision making was not too sound before the bump. Plenty to work on and still some time to work on it, as I really wont be too worried I think until we hit the road against ODU and Richmond/Miss St.

what I thought

I was impressed with Dixon. Showed some great skills running the floor. And, oddly, he and Paul looked in synch for about 72 seconds. Taking into account it’s the first game, I’m feeling a bit better concerning the guard play off the bench. To echo Beef, Ramsey and Bowers were sick. That pair could get dangerous soon.

English kills me. I know he puts in hours working on his shot, but it’s so bizarre that it doesn’t go. Is it nerves? Or contacts? He’s a shooter and should take open looks. But, regardless if you’re a “shooter” or not, if it’s not working, then you need to pass it off or get closer.

Tiller’s defensive skills need to be taped from four angles, then packaged and given to kids and NBA players. That man is a breathing textbook.
