MUtigers.com: OFFICIAL RELEASE
Iowa State proved to be a nemesis on a regular basis during one stretch for Mizzou, as the Cyclones posted a 4-0-2 record in Columbia in six appearances from 1982 through 1991.
The last three visits to Columbia have resulted in Tiger victories, but one was a memorable nailbiter in 2005 that saw an unproven rookie quarterback come off the bench to replace an injured Brad Smith in the 4th quarter and lead Mizzou back from a 10-point deficit to post a 27-24 overtime win that essentially began the legend of Chase Daniel.
Mizzou Head Coach Gary Pinkel stands 5-3 overall against Iowa State. Five of the eight contests between MU and ISU since Pinkel took over in 2001 have been decided by seven points or fewer.

You forgot this gem...
from Jason Whitlock, proclaiming the reason for all this hoopla at kU to be centered around Mangino’s weight. Obviously, it’s important for this to pointed out by a fellow butterball, cause otherwise, you’re being weighist.
I’ve said before that Mangino is a heart attack waiting to happen. I’m sure he’s Type II Diabetic, hypertensive, and a mess of other pathologies that come with morbid obesity. And maybe this meeting with the players and internal investigation is all a smokescreen to release yourself from a PR nightmare. But isn’t it more so a nightmare if the smokescreen kills your reputation. Kids upset because they got pooked in a walk-through? Or bitter because they got verbally undressed after getting an unsportsmanlike penalty (Mizzourah has the link for that)? I commented yesterday this is sounding like U-12 soccer, not college football. You play a game for free education. Suck it up or quit.

I unfortunately stumbled across it...
Whitlock is a great writer. The content/message of his columns usually isn’t.

I really really wish Mizzou was taking up Bosie for that 2011 date
I think it would be a fantastic nonconference game, in Columbia no less, for what SHOULD be a pretty decent team. And if you do get upset I think Boise holds a lot more weight than a Western Michigan/Tulsa/Bowling Green type team – plus you would likely have another 8-10 games to make up for it if national title aspirations are in play.
