- The Trib: Time to give a glove
The Trib: Behind the Stripes Webcast: Episode 15
The Trib (Dave Matter): Behind the Numbers: MU-Iowa State[W]hen Gabbert’s playing well and Missouri’s playing well, he’s been as good or better, at least statistically, than Daniel’s winning performances in 2006. Like Daniel that season, Gabbert has been prolific in a loss — Baylor was to Gabbert what Oregon State was to Daniel — and also endured a three-game losing streak.
Here’s one major difference: Third-down production. Gabbert is completing 50 percent of his throws on third down, converting 32 percent of those chances into first downs and computing a 116.9 rating on third down. Daniel, in 2006, completed 66.7 percent on third down, converted 50 percent of those chances and posted a 177.7 third-down rating.

The Missourian: Alexander makes most of waking hours
The Missourian: 10 things you didn't know about Iowa State8. Iowa State's mascot, Cy the cardinal, was originally conceived in 1954. Searching for a way to improve school spirit, a group of students approached a local manufacturing company in hopes of creating a school mascot. They eventually decided that a cyclone was too difficult to depict in costume and chose to use the school colors, cardinal and gold, to create a cardinal mascot. Now, we get that a physical representation of high speed winds might be sort of tough to pull off. But wouldn't it be worth the effort to have a devastating force of nature rather than a five-inch-tall bird? We're just sayin'.

What do tigers dream of when they take a little tiger snooze? Do they dream of mauling zebras, or Halle Berry in her Catwoman suit?
