Things I saw at Arrowhead
1 - A Couple getting married in the parking lot.
2 - Mizzou Pope - A guy in a MU Pope costume - at least I think it was a costume (his blessing worked, though)
3 - MU dean of J-School - said he listens to our show, and that we do not do his field justice.
4 - MU's secondary getting torched like Lawrence.
5 - Danario - witness, people.
6 - One of the best punting performances I've ever seen.
7 - Colin Brown - Said the Chiefs are really looking out for him as he recovers and rehabs.
8 - Tim Barnes older (and bigger) brother Sam - very nice guy.
9 - Rodd Teesing sackes in the end zone again (from about 15 yards away)
10 - D-Wash bouncing off tacklers to set up. . .
11 - Grant Ressell becoming a legend (I hugged him 3 minutes later - remember what I said about Journalism?)
12 - Pinkel's emotional comments after the game
13 - Kurtis Gregory's handwritten note with his pre-game thoughts - what a great kid (who hates kU)
14 - Spoon giving the credit for the win to the Nike Pro Combat Kits (we won because we were lighter).
15 - and something not many people saw - the Mark Mangino Death March through the bowels of Arrowhead Stadium.
You can thank my lovely wife for the lack of photographic evidence. She had the camera with the kids at Disney World this weekend.
I tell you what, that was a hell of a thing over there in KC. What a game.

It must have been AWESOME to be there.

Oh it was incredible.
-I saw a mizzou guy kick and punch a kU child (turnes out it was a doll)
- a portable toilet made out of a refridgerator box
- three fights
- one fire
- some incredibly designed mizzou cornhole games
- and a whole bunch of Q flags

Eh...
I’m all for spirit and frivolity and, frankly, jayhawk bashing… but celebrating Quantrill seems a bit like showing up to play an African country waving malaria flags. I mean, yeah he committed war crimes against Lawrence, har har, sucks to be them… but they were WAR FREAKIN’ CRIMES.
Stay classy Mizzou.

Brown and the like did nearly the same thing against people on the Missouri side
I have no problem with a black Q flag, if they can make banners of famous Jayhawks, of which were flown at last years kU/MU basketball game.
Funny thing, the Tigers were the Boone county militia charged with protecting the county from both Jayhawkers and Bushwakers, but…
If you really want to get technical I believe Quantrill actually grew up sympathizing with the north until the Army wasn’t protecting people on the Missouri border because Missouri hadn’t declared allegiance yet.

I hope that came across more like a professor trying to expand the mind
I just read what I posted and that sounded kinda ‘douchey’, I did not want to do that.
I in fact would like more understanding on both sides of the travesty that happened on both sides of the border, that’s all. Both sides lead treacherous insurgents on either side and destroyed many lives, homes, towns.

it was something I had tried to figure out all day.
b/c there were about 20 of these flags. thought it was kind of a clever idea, totally not what I was expecting. I think there is a difference between malaria killing africans and one militia retaliating unto the actions of anoter. But I see that the uncalledfor argument could be played there. sorry.

Yeah John Brown was criminally insane he killed 5 unarmed men by hacking them to death
thats a super special kind of crazy, and thats only just a small portion of his crimes. And he was tried convicted and hung for being a traitor. Learn a little history before you start making call like that, at least know what and who you are talking about.
And Mizzou IS classy

Hey now, I never said anything to defend Kansas. It was an ugly war, lots of horrible things done both ways, blah blah blah. I’m just saying if you’re going to refer to that time, waving a flag for the guy who rolled up into Lawrence and not only executed a bunch of civilians, but dragged them in front of their families to be shot (which, as someone with multiple psych degrees, I can say with a fair amount of confidence moves you from regular war criminal into flat out psychopath territory)… that’s just not a particularly shining example of anything to be held up and put on a flag.
Malaria might not have been quite right, but perhaps a better analogy would be showing up in Oklahoma with Timothy McVeigh flags or something. Just not good.
on the upside, YAY that we stuck it to the beakers and knocked them out of a bowl game in a dramatic stand, and goooo Tigers. Nothing wrong with a good healthy rivalry and getting a good old fashioned college hate on.

Me, shorter: Mizzou has lots to be proud of, but this guy ain’t one. A complicated guy, perhaps, at a complicated time, but civilian massacres are just never something you brag about.

Point and well put
Agree, not something we should put on flags….
.perhaps a lapel pin? (just kidding)

Good Match, Tigers
I was at the game on Saturday, and was quite enjoying myself until the last couple of minutes of the fourth quarter. It was obvious that the Jayhawks came out inspired for the rivalry, and played probably their most complete game of the season. But it wasn’t enough.
Mark Mangino’s fate is still a topic of very much discussion over at RCT and throughout the Jayhawk Family. I personally am on the “get rid of him ASAP” boat, so I’d like to thank you guys for (hopefully) putting the final nail in his coffin. Also, if we had become bowl eligible and actually were picked for some stupid place like Boise, it just would have prolonged the paralysis of the program and would have made the whole mess that much more uncomfortable.
Good luck with your bowl game. Hopefully we can make a good hire, and the rivalry can get back to national relevance again.
Oh, and we’ll see you on the basketball court soon.
