To repeat: BIG 12 CHAMPION MISSOURI, WITH A 13-6-3 RECORD (7-1-2 IN BIG 12) WAS NOT GIVEN A BID TO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT. WTF.

I heard today that Coach Blitz was pessimistic about landing a spot.

That's unbelieveable horsesh*t

Actually, screw the asterisk. That’s horseshit.

what the heck?

is the field incredibly small or something? is there no kind of automatic bid process for conference champions? is this being nationally recognized as us getting screwed over? so many questions…

capital letters suck.

There ARE automatic qualifies for conference champs

but it’s for the tournament winners, not the regular season champs.

That’s why they were in the at-large pool. I’m just very surprised that a record that good does not qualify one as a to 30 something team in the country once all the conference champs have been given all their automatic bids.

I can only imagine that women’s college soccer is a world of extreme haves and have-nots, with a whole raft of teams just DOMINATING the other half.

This just doesn't make any sense

I think I counted 8 Pac 10 teams get in the tournament, but the Big 12 Regular Season Champion is excluded? I’m confused as to how going through a major conference schedule with only 1 loss keeps you from getting a chance to play for a national title?

Unless I'm mistaken...

… the soccer committee historically LOVES them some West Coast.

For the sake of a conspiracy

would they have not been better served by including more Big 12 teams, since aTm is hosting the Women’s College Cup this year?

this is crazy..........

disrespect?

Slightly!!!!!!

Selection Committee Criteria:

(Taken straight from the NCAA Women’s Soccer Blog—posted by the selection chair)

The first is the team’s RPI – which consists of their winning percentage and their strength of schedule, the second is their head-to-head results against other teams being considered for selection, and third is a comparison with other teams under consideration of their results against common opponents. The hardest call for the committee is in comparing teams with very similar profiles, but no head-to-head results and no common opponents. That is when we often have to turn to our secondary selection/seeding criteria which includes results against teams already selected for the tournament and late season performance (last 8 games).

with the final criterion being that a team will not be selected if it comes from a state west of the Mississippi, yet east of the great plains, and also borders on 7 or more other states.
