Lots of news out there today

Sounds as if Harbaugh has turned kU down to sign an extension at Stanford

Sounds as if Marucs Murphy has pulled the trigger and committed this afternoon at the bowl practice

Sounds as if NW MO St. may finally get over the hump in the D-II Championship, as they are up 21-0 in the 2nd quarter.

By the way...

I am PUMPED about Murphy. I’m far higher on this kid coming out of North Texas than I was about Kendial Lawrence.

Sounds as if he was a total stud on a DeSoto squad

which is sending kids to Texas and LSU. I think K-Law has some competition back there now.

So if Kendial was Jesus,

that makes Murphy the father or the holy ghost?

I’m assuming that you’re a football trinitarian.

oy...not sure I like those either

Army and Navy have such classic unis…I dont think there is any need to do that to them

*grumbling*

A few things:

1. A few years ago, the Marine Corps decided they wanted to be different than the rest of the services. One project they started was the Osprey program (OV-22). Another project was to get the Marines into different camo than the other services.

2. They had a vote for servicemembers to select the next style of uniform…I voted for the tiger stripe pattern, because I believe it fits into a jungle environment better than the other designs. The digital pattern eventually won.

3. Shortly after the Marines started wearing the digital uniforms, the other branches came up with their own “patterns.”

4. Personally, I think they look ridiculous, and while there may be “tests” saying that their a better camouflage than the other designs, they still look stupid.

5. In the spirit of inter-service rivalry….GO NAVY…BEAT ARMY!!!

Go Bearcats! Go One Service Academy, Beat The Other Service Academy!

I can never decide who to root for in this game. My dad was an Air Force Reservist, and I’ve had friends who were in the Army and ones who were are Marines. I love this game.

I will pull for Army simply to see them get into a bowl game

Nothing wrong with those boys from Army getting to enjoy one MORE game in their season

Has this game been contested in Washington DC of late?

I seem to remember Philly, Baltimore and the Meadowlands, but not DC. Anyone know?

Good to hear

RFK was all sorts of a dump, but Fed Ex is quite large and should give even more people a chance to see this game.

Per Wikipedia, they have NEVER played in DC

Location Games
Philadelphia, PA 81
New York, NY 11
Baltimore, MD 4
East Rutherford, NJ 4
Annapolis, MD 3
West Point, NY 3
Chicago, IL 1
Pasadena, CA 1
Princeton, NJ 1

They last time they played somewhere other than Philly, Baltimore and The Meadowlands was 1983, when they played in the Rose Bowl.

So, why do both programs run the option?

Is it because it’s easier to run the option without as many high-end skill players? You don’t need a great arm at QB and speedy WRs.

Is it because you can have so many different looks from a handful of plays? This would be an advantage to a program who have players who aren’t going to be professional football players and don’t need to learn a package of 60 plays.

I just find it interesting that both teams use such a traditional package.

by Andy--01 on Dec 12, 2009 2:04 PM CST reply actions

I really do think it has to do with the lack of comparble athletes

In that it is a system through which discipline can win out against a more gifted team

GV with the smart move

and though they were real close to the endzone, they put up the FG they need.

30-23 with just about 4 to go. GV is on a 2nd string kicker, so I am guessing they will kick it “deep” (which is really not all that deep). GV with 2 timeouts I believe, so NW is going to need to move the ball a bit to run this one out
