  • The Trib (Dave Matter): Brian Coulter named finalist for Rudy Award

    Congratulations to Missouri senior defensive end Brian Coulter, who has been named a finalist for the third annual Rudy Award, which according to the Rudy Foundation, honors "student-athletes who demonstrate exemplary character, courage, contribution and commitment." The award is named after former Notre Dame walk-on Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger, whose inspiring story was immortalized in the film "Rudy."

    The other finalists include Florida International senior defensive back O’Darris D’Haiti and Akron junior running back LeVon Morefield.

    The 2009 selection committee includes current and former coaches Barry Alvarez, David Bailiff, Gary Barnett, Fisher DeBerry, Dennis Franchione, June Jones, Chuck Knox, Gary Patterson, Buddy Pough, Jackie Sherrill and Dick Tomey, as well as former Washington Redskins Quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Doug Williams and NFL Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson.
