Enter [Dave] Christensen, who had been one of the nation's top offensive coordinators at Missouri. He has guided Wyoming (6-6 overall, 4-4 in the Mountain West) to its first bowl since the Cowboys beat UCLA 24-21 in the 2004 Las Vegas Bowl. He is one of eight first-year coaches in a bowl this season. Wyoming's formula for success has been simple: protect the football. The Cowboys finished second in the Mountain West and 20th in the nation in turnover margin at plus-7. "No doubt, that probably was the biggest difference between this year's team and last year's," Christensen said. "Last year's team had 36 turnovers and we had 13 [this season]. And of those 13 turnovers, four happened by backups.
