James Franklin is commited to Mizzou?

this is news to me. I honestly had no clue who he was until about 20 minutes ago. I was reading this weeks SI and they had a chart with the 6 best Texas high school QB's. to my delight one of them was named James Franklin. Like I said I don't know who he is but if he's the 4th best QB in texas then he sounds great to me. I guess I figured if he were really awesome I would hear about him on RMN, it is possible however that he has been discussed while I was out of town. anyways here is what it says in SI

James Franklin, Lake Dallas High, Corinth, Texas. 6'2", 218. Commited to Missouri

the dual-threat quarterback has passed for 2,000 yards and rushed for 1,000 in each of the past two seasons.

So, that sounds nice. Don't know what we already have as far as QB's this class, but costello and glazer will both be gone after 2011 so Franklin could have one year to start.

LOVE this kid.

He’s been on board for forever now.

Not so sure he isn’t pushing for the No. 2 job next year, especially since he’s enrolling this January to get a head start.

That way we get at least three years out of him. Could be four if Gabbert goes pro.

I think I would have agreed with you before...

but I think we have to just keep playing for the now. The staff has said if you earn it you will get it. These things work themselves out. We already have another QB on board for 2011, and may still get another one for 2010. If Franklin earns 2nd team (and I agree with Bill in that he might with the extra months and spring ball), then I have no problem with him there, no matter what the year.

Been slicing and dicing the very, very, very competitive Dallas-Fort Worth high school football scene this year. Could end up being the Dallas Morning News’ Offensive Player of the Year.
