I still fail to understand...

…how Matt Millen is allowed to talk about football on TV anymore. I mean…I used to enjoy him pre-Lions, but I just can’t look at him or listen to him without now thinking, “You clearly do not know what you are talking about. Why should I listen to you?”

agreed

and I’m pulling for the Steelers because I’m still bitter about the Cardinals leaving the Lou in 87

by CPC on Feb 1, 2009 5:06 PM CST up reply actions

Me too.

They left when I was 10, having never had a good team to root for (and, rarely having a team on TV to root for). The Rams came in my Freshman year at Mizzou, so I never felt connected to them.

It’s because of Bill Bidwell’s Cardinals that I never really became a die-hard fan of the NFL, and it wasn’t until probably ’97 that I really became a football fan at all.

If I didn’t like Kurt Warner so much, I would despise the team. As it is, I just can’t bring myself to root for them.

I was in the dorms in '99...

…and it was amazing to watch all the people who “never felt connected to” the Rams for the first few years suddenly pretending to be lifelong fans when they made the Super Bowl. Not that I’m bitter or anything.

And yeah…while I LOVE Larry Fitzgerald, and I like Adrian Wilson’s loyalty…I’m still rooting for the Steelers. Easy to like a bunch of those guys. Fast Willie, Brett Keisel, underdog James Harrison, Big Ben, etc…and the coolest looking coach ever. Dude looks my age…almost is

Well, I rooted like hell for the Rams in '99

it was still my home town.

But, as nice as their winning was, it wasn’t nearly as good as the Cards winning in ’06, and much, much less that it would be if the Blues ever felt like freezing-over a bit of hell.

yeah, no offense intended to you..

…but their going from not caring to being COMPLETELY cocky and annoying about their team was not one of my fondest memories. :-)

All in all, a VERY good game

I found myself rooting for Arizona despite myself.

I do think that Kurt Warner just got a ticket to Canton. Sure as heck a lot more deserving than Joe Namath.

Sorry to respond to my own post

but, the only reason I say “very good” and not “great” (or even “greatest ever”) is because Arizona wasn’t really competitive at all in the 1st half.

Joe Namath saved the Super Bowl

Kurt Warner disappeared for five years.

Can he disappear for another 5?

I’ve never really liked him…or Jake Delhomme for that matter…
