Dave Matter reporting Nevada game moved ...
...
... to Friday night, the 25th, instead of Saturday, the 26th.
Although I don't have as much a problem as a lot of you do with moving the Nebraska game, I'm not a big fan of playing on Friday night. Maybe it's the bad taste from the Troy State game or something like that. I just feel like Reno will be a little more hostile at night. Or, maybe I'm wrong. What's the blog's opinion?

I DEFINITELY have a bitter taste from the Troy game...
…and therefore I hate this idea. But I guess the bottom line for a road game like that is, if we’re spotlighted in a night game like that and we win, I love it. If we lose, I hate the idea.

Not a fan of this
For exactly the reasons you listed (…Troy…*chills*).
Moving these games gets us more TV time and more exposure, but who of us that watched the team crumble against Troy in that game wasn’t sure this was a huge setback for the program at the time? I know Nevada doesn’t have DeMarcus Ware on that team, but were gonna have a pretty young QB back there in Gabbert and Kapernick gave us fits this year at times with a relatively experienced defense, so who knows how it could go this year.

Hell...
Why don’t we play one game on every day of the week?
I’m not delusional to think Missouri is a powerhouse, but the program is acting like the lower tier CUSA team right now.

Also from Matter ...
… in another article, he recalls a conversation he had with Alden that in this economic climate, Mizzou was going to have to get a little more creative in some things it does to maintain its budget. Maybe this is one of those “creative” things. Matter estimates a guaranteed $1 million from having three games on ESPN (with the Illinois game likely the other one).
I’m not saying I agree with it, but yeah, maybe all the programs out there not named UT, OU or Nebraska, will have to do stuff like this.

Actually, what I don't like
Is that putting the game on Friday is going to put it up against Friday football. Granted, I haven’t gotten into cheering for the Hornets yet, but I would think there’s a lot of people in StL and KC that still go to HS games.
However, in this economic climate, I figure they got to do all they can to get money in the coffers (since people still won’t buy Basketball tickets).

No, not the gate
But the Ath. Dept. will get (either directly or indirectly) more money from being on ESPN beyond what is in the conference television contract…or I’m wrong.

While visions of Troy dance in my head
shivers, as long as it’s televised here in San Diego, I don’t care when the games are.
