Be prepared for Texas
To turn up the defensive pressure like K-State did out of the gate. I know some teams are not capable of playing defensive like that, but Texas is and I will like to see how our guards handle that pressure. We need a fast start in the game tonight because it seems when we start slow, we can never get things going. I think we can win this game, but this a HUGE game for both teams in terms of the Big Dance.

So yes. That guy’s awesome.

I guess Mizzou is playing Texas tonight
I couldn’t remember, but it would explain why the 2002 version of the matchup was on ESPN Classic this afternoon
I couldn't remember that one...
…and then I looked it up. Ahh yes, the “Paulding misses 2 FTs with 10 seconds left” game. Not nearly as painful as the “AJ blocks the shot straight to Boddicker for a game-tying 3-pointer, almost mortally crippling Mizzou’s NCAA chances” game, but painful.

Ah yes . . .
the game that caused the long debate on Tigerboard about whether AJ should simply have allowed Royal Ivey to score. That may have been the most painful finish to a regular season hoops game that I can remember. I know I woke up in the middle of the night with the sweats and realized it wasn’t a dream.

Yeah, that was as big a gut-punch game as I can remember...
…and then we got another one a month later, when Padgett closed the Hearnes Center with a last-second bucket to officially end Mizzou’s NCAA chances.

Hey guys....
Good luck tonight. Promised ghtd36 and rptgwb I would stop by tonight and join in on the fun but unfortunately life has intervened. Lets have a great game where no one gets hurt, both sides play admirably and Texas wins by one.

ESPN studio guy said that if UT loses,. they have gone from Peacock to Featherduster."
that’s some down-home colloquialism. Like “As happy as a puppy with 2 peters”
well...
…couldn’t ask for a better start, I guess. 6-0 Mizou after 3 minutes, UT’s biggie going to the line…

Nice!
Good Leo early! Misses a layup, but gets the rebound and an and-one as we head to the first TV timeout…10-1 Mizzou…
Rock M Nation
Thrust nunchuk upward!
Actually 10-3...
They hit the jumper at the free throw line with a mismatch of JYD covering a guard.
First segment goes to Mizzou...
…second to a newly energized Texas, who now leads 17-16 with 11:10 left…the pace is definitely to Mizzou’s preference right now…

It always annoys me...
…when bodies are flying around underneath, and then they call a ticky-tack tiny-slap foul…

Mizzou getting PWNED in the third segment...
…heading into the third TV timeout, Dexter Pittman is proving that Mizzou still can’t handle size. 25-16 Texas.

pittmann
is just pushing leo around. he just puts his elbow on him and moves him out of the way for himself or someone else.

I was about to say...
…if Pittman’s allowed to shove AND travel, then that’s just not fair…

And now DeMarre's out of sorts...
…they think every shot they put up is going to be blocked.

fourth segment is a tie...
…need to make sure this last 4-minute segment is at least a tie…
Rock M Nation
Thrust nunchuk upward!
Pittman FINALLY gets his second foul....
…and then Denmon drains a 3. Mizzou back to 34-28…

Bowers with the steal...
…and then Tiller is MAULED on the break.
Rock M Nation
Thrust nunchuk upward!
That's...
…where Norm would have brought in a walk-on who shoots 90% from the FT line to shoot the FTs, then have Tiller pop back up healthy.

The hustle lineup...
…of Tiller, Denmon, Goose, Ramsey and Bowers have somehow cut the lead. Of course, nobody on this lineup (other than Denmon) can actually put the ball in the basket, so that’s a bit of a problem, but they’ve really annoyed Texas on defense…

Our seniors are stinking up the joint...
the kids have really gotten this lead 44-42.

MU's offense has been spit and bailwire all night
Love the D, but how many layups have we blown tonight? Texas is steady trying to give this away and we just can’t put a string of good shots together.
We’re getting a lot out of our press and just off defensive effort.
Come on Leo, quit with the flippy, scoopy crap. Make a move and get to the line.

How come we keep giving up dunk (attempts) though?
Not that Texas isn’t good :)

If we can get ANYTHING positive from Lyons and Carrol...
down the stretch we’re pretty likely to walk away with a win. Come on guys. I didn’t expect a win, but now that you’re on the cusp bring it home.

someone from the opposition has a coming out party.

I posted toward the beginning of the season
That it seems like most games some opposing player has their career high against us. Is that just my selective memory or does it happen more against Mizzou than other teams?
It's happened to K-State several times...
…off the top of my head I can name LaceDarius Dunn from Baylor, Velander from Nebraska, and Thorne from Colorado.

As bad as they played at times in the 1st half
Texas played WORSE!
Without 20 some points from Pittman off the bench, they were Awful
From a poster named UT2001 over at BON
Why should these lackluster "basketball" players get a free ride and education to play like this? I say find me someone who wants to play and compete and will actually expend some effort I don’t know…move your feet on defense, work on an inbound pass or MAKE A F****** FREE THROW. MY F****** CAT CAN SHOOT BETTER FROM THE LINE THAN THESE GUYS.
The time for accountability is now.
I thought we might make the tournament . . .
because the North was weak. It didn’t occur to me that we’d do it by sweeping the South. 4-0, friends!

I thinkl it will take a MASSIVE collapse to miss March Madness at this point.
A loss at Ames this weekend would be very bad at this point.

4 more wins - where do they come from?
@ Iowa State – Win?
Kansas – Win?
Nebraska – Win
@ Colorado – Win
K-State – Win
@ KU – Loss
Oklahoma – Loss
@ A&M – Loss
that would put us at 24-7
The sleeper has awoken. . .awakened. . .he woke up.
BCI was big tonight
12 assists and 8 steals against just 7 turnovers. Couldn’t rebound or make a free throw, but took great care of the ball.
