Got a couple of friends comin here from Kansas

Lunardi is trying to jinx us...
“Missouri is my new choice for the nation’s most underrated team. Warning: my last nominee (West Virginia) proceeded to lose two games in a row.”
I've got a kickass cousin
he regularly watches the basketball games at a particular bar in Palm Springs with Norm Stewart. Then his wife drops the “we had dinner with Norm and Virginia last week” line. I’m gonna have to road trip just to drink a beer with Norm during a game.
Palm Springs is about a 2 hour drive
I go to penalty box and feel shame.

Running down the important things.
Our mascot is a real thing.
ADVANTAGE: MIZZOU
Our coach has his real hair, though not a lot of it.
ADVANTAGE: MIZZOU
Our fans are going to be absurdly drunk and/or rowdy.

i haven't been this excited about a bball game
since my sophomore year at MU. It’s been a long time, boys. Don’t disappoint.
Glad to hear it...
The games were never quite the same at Mizzou Arena compared to Hearnes…but then again neither were the teams.
nice to have empty seats behind ron and fran
goddam rich people can’t get their asses to the game don’t deserve the tix
Would not have guessed 2:30 in
and still scoreless.

KU's getting much better shots so far
of course they’re playing true to form with turnovers. We, on the other hand, are turning it over like it’s a MU/KU game, and it’s a big deal or something.

"I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground, before I recognize Missourah!"

We have a lot of dumb turnovers
We can’t afford those. We’re turning KU over but not getting anything out of it because we are just kicking the ball around based on nerves. As much as I love what DeMarre and Leo bring in some ways, they are two of the shakiest we have with the ball. (That could be an issue in March.)
"Those who fear disorder more than injustice inevitably produce more of both." -- Rev. William Coffin
Despite how this game is going
I couldn’t help but smile when I saw the small numbers to the left of MIZZOU on the screen. It’s been too long (and I don’t want to think about earlier this year). Time to keep it there consistently.
i have to say
i’m impressed with kU’s defense and rebounding inside. They’re not as talented as last year, but you can see why they’re 8-0. If they get just a little offense, they’ll grind you up.
defensively, i like what i'm seeing for the most part
they need to control their offensive game, though
this offense
is looking a lot more like a quin synder offense than a mike anderson offense…

Good win guys...great game lived up to the hype..
see you in Lawrence
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
We got every 50-50 call at home in the 2nd half
I suspect the situation to kinda even itself out in Lawrence.
"Those who fear disorder more than injustice inevitably produce more of both." -- Rev. William Coffin
Not to take anything away from anyone's effort
Just sayin’. I expect KU to go to the stripe more often at home.
"Those who fear disorder more than injustice inevitably produce more of both." -- Rev. William Coffin
yeah that's probably...
likely…ref’s are influenced by the crowd regardless of what we’d all hope
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
All in all I think the refs did pretty good, no complaints from me there...
the only thing I hate is when one half is called loose and then next pretty tight. That happened tonight and it’s pretty common so we needed to do a better job of adjusting and didn’t.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
you think it was horribly skewed one way?
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
I will say...
…that I think there were a couple times that Aldrich got away with murder. Or at least assualt. But then again, there were a couple times that we got bad calls in our way. I’d say it evened out.
My 2009 New Years Resolution: Quit feeding the trolls.
I would agree that it evened out overall.
My point is that we should get better than evening things out. I prefer good, fair officiating. I think I recall a game or two a long time ago where that happened, but maybe not.
What you speak of did happen once...
and it would be ideal, but I don’t ever count on it
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
keep the faith..and if you see it...
let me know, I would like to record the event. Especially if it has a team wearing the name UNC or Duke on the front of the jersey
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
I wouldn't say horribly skewed...
but I certainly wouldn’t say pretty good. Lots of nonfouls were called fouls and lots of fouls were noncalls. Overall, a pretty average game for the officials. If we are going to call this pretty good, then we need to raise our standards a little bit.
Not calling it good from the actual call of the game, but...
I try to judge it based on if one team somehow gained a significant edge due to poor officiating. I don’t think that happened tonight in any major way. Like ghtd36 said, both teams benefited from the calls and if it evens out I’m good with that.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
As I said below
I don’t think either team gained a significant edge tonight, and in that respect, it was good.
Congrats, congrats.
I’d say we are evenly-matched teams. The stats say it (giving you a slight edge), and the game tonight proved it.
And the reffing was definitely fair. They butchered the block/charges, and allowed us to bang down low. But they also allowed plenty of handsy contact on both sides, which was nice, particularly in the first half. The second half was called far too tight, but fair, so what can you do.
Overall, it was the teams that decided it, which is all you can really ask for.
finally mizzou basketball is relevant again...
This win really defines the season in my opinon. We are now 3-0 vs. ranked opponents. Who really expected this kind of record at this point. I think you really have to give Coach Mike Anderson for the character and chemistry of this team. You can’t count them out of ANY game.
Epic win.
I won the halftime free throw shooting contest, won $100 (even though I did throw the halfcourt shot over the backboard and hit a cheerleader in the face), saw Zaire Taylor effing own at the end, rushed the court, gave Lawrence Bowers a huge hug, and sang the alma mater with a guy from ESPN.
Definitely one of the best days of my life.
You freaking owned in that free throw contest
and hitting that chick in the face might be better than $5000
Let me tell you
hitting that cheerleader was probably the highlight of the first half + halftime. Good show.

I still can't comprehend this
We had 16 points in the first half. 16. We shot 24% in that half. We went nearly 8 minutes without a field goal to end the half.
And we won. Unbelievable.
Chicago White Sox Examiner — Your what hurts?
A couple quick thoughts before I go to bed...
1) JT Tiller and Zaire Taylor had 10 points and the four biggest testicles on the court. That’s why we won. (Though everybody deserves credit in this one…JYD for scoring when nobody else could…English for getting Mizzou immediate momentum in the second half…Goose for getting one of the most improbable putbacks of all-time over Aldrich…Good Leo for appearing just in the nick of time with 2:00 left…)
2) I rec’d the hell out of this comment, and I suggest you do the same.
3) I think I realized today what the main problem has been with Mizzou Arena, and why it hasn’t compared favorably to the Hearnes Center: the teams playing in it haven’t been very good. This crowd was at least as loud as I ever heard Hearnes in the last two minutes. I don’t blame KU for somewhat falling apart down the stretch…it was too loud to think, and I was in the 25th row…
