Getting Louisville/Arizona in Chicago
Luckily, Gus Johnson is doing it or I’d be really pissed we aren’t getting OU/Syracuse.
Chicago White Sox Examiner — Your what hurts?
Is anyone rooting for KS?
I want the Big 12 to make a statement but how in the world can I root for the Beakers?

I'm good either way...

Same here.
Either way, the Big 12 will look good or we’ll make it longer in the tournament than kU. Nothing wrong with either option.

Mixed emotions - I don't really want KU to be there if we're lucky enough
to make first Final Four in school history (which is NOT going to happen against UCONN)
However, I’d love to beat them to go to the final, and I’d like for the Big 12 to get half of it’s tournament entries into the Final Four. So, if kU wins, I want MU, kU and OU to ALL win.
But, finally, I can’t ever bring myself to root for them, so it’s one of those – :“if they win, they win”, to paraphrase Ivan Drago.

i am rooting for michigan state and louisville.
i do not not NOT want to see a mizzou kansas rematch. plus. if arizona wins kansas would have to play a #13, #11, and #12 seed to get to a final four. BULLSHIT.
Kinda like us playing
#11, #7, #9 to win the Big XII Title?
BS, maybe, but it’s not their (or our) fault how the bracket falls. If you don’t like this, just remember one alternative is the BCS.

I never got around last night.
So I just wanted to say congrats to all of you.
And while I (shockingly) actually kinda-sorta like Memphis, I was mostly neutral last night. But I will definitely be cheering hard for you all against UConn on Saturday.
Go Big 12, right?
Seriously, though, that was incredible. You torched the best defense in the country for over 100 points. That’s just ridiculous.
And good luck on Saturday. Maybe, we can meet up in Detroit.
That would be awesome.
Is anyone good with making .gifs?
if so.. can you make one of the patrick chewing ad from snickers. I think we should use it everytime someone throws a huge dunk down. such as tiller’s last night!

Good question...
however, I think Kentucky is looking for a “big name.” Donovan has already said he’s not a candidate.
no way.
well.. maybe. damnit! i hope we don’t find out if we sign mike for at least another 2 weeks.

vanderbilt
has a raised court and it allows a major mindfuck for the oppostion. however, this is a neutral site, so i dont know the reaosn.
I don't think this is the first time this has been done....
I believe it has something to do with sight lines since they set up the court in the middle of the field so that potentially they can get 70,000 people in for a Final Four. I believe they also piloted this at one or two of the regional sites last year. Actually, the Final Four might have even had the raised court last year.
You got it done!! Nice work.

So, gotta work tomorrow, no way out of it. DO I ......
1. Record the game on TiVo (doing it anyway) and try to remain unspoiled. Watch the game when I get home at 8-ish.
Chances of remaining unspoiled – probably . Saturdays are slow and not looking at RMN, ESPN, CBS or Tigerboard seems unlikely (plus, if we WIN, my wife would likely call me right after the game to celebrate unless I specifically told her not to), but I could take a movie and and watch that.
Drawback – even if I’m at work, I could call SOMEONE at the end of the game to discuss it. Pretty strange to do that 4 hours after it ends.
2. Change the channel on the facility TV system to CBS to watch the game. Problem is that I would not be guaranteed to watch the entire game.
Chances of watching the entire game – Saturdays are slow, so fairly likely. However, today we had an issue that took up the entire day, and there’s about a 20% chance that it continues tomorrow. Any other issues crop up, and I can’t watch the game, I’ve got to deal with them.
Drawback – Worst case scenario, I watch part of the 1st half, then get busy for the 2nd half. Basketball games are pretty quick and I could easily be busy the entire half. I come back in right after it ends, and I don’t get to enjoy the game at all.
I’m probably going with 2, but what would you do?

NO question.
I can’t do the whole “avoid the TV, phone and internet” so I’d do anything possible to catch it live.
Yeah, it's pretty strict
about the only things not blocked are RMN and Tigerboard.

The Boy has been posting a video player in the game thread
that streams the game…not sure how well that works, I haven’t tried it, but it’s been there
That's been me.
CastTV has been providing us with embeddable streams.
If I can hunt down the code, I’ll have it as part of tomorrow’s thread.
typically all video is blocked
the problem isn’t getting the game, there’s a plasma in the conference room and I have a key to the AV room and permission to change channels on the weekend.
the problem is being free to watch it. If I’m too busy to sit on the conference room computer, I’ll be too busy to watch it on my computer.
And, I’m in the middle of a warehouse (inside a data center) so radio signals are non-existent.
"When he went for that ball and dived over the table, I knew what was next to come. I felt sorry for what Texas Tech had to face after that."
-- J. T. Tiller - 3/12/09
I was just thinking
of having the game going in a window on your monitor, resized so you can still get your work done. That being said, I have no clue what you do for work, so that may not be possible
I'm a data center manager
If I have anything to do on the weekend, it will be working on a server, dealing with a vendor or sitting on a conference call. Only one of which I could do during a conference call, and I am supposed to report to my manager on any of those that would be important enough to have during the weekend.

Are you on the computer while you watch the game?
When you are not working?
If you pulled off #1, would it be weird to watch the game and not be on the computer?
I think number two is the option. Just hope for the best.

plan for #1, but try for #2
So tell your wife not to call, set the TIVO, etc… Then try to watch it at work, but if you can’t or if you can only watch one half and then get called away for a significant chunk of time, go into lockdown mode, and save the rest for TIVO at home.
Michigan State...
Is a bunch of pussies. I now live in Big Ten country and am forced to watch this crap basketball all season long. Not surprising that the Big XII is taking it to them.
For the Big XII Championship game I was in the same predicament
I didn’t think it would be possible for me to not have the game be spoiled, but it actually worked out. I watched the recorded game when I got home and it was well worth it
I've done it with football
but, never tried it with a game this important, and I’ve always had my wife in town waiting at home to watch the game with me (she’s traveling this weekend).

is there anyway we can see how many new members have joined this site over the last month? i feel like we’ve at least tripled.

The difference, however, is the number of active members. The people coming on board are very vocal, as opposed to the number of people who join who are usually silent.

Partially interested is a victory for him
You and I have been around him in person and you know that’s a personal victory for him.
the thing about whitlock is that he can change his opinion 180 degrees based entirely on 1 game.
a team can go from national championship contender to middle of the confrence pretender based soully on 1 game

do you think it MU played KU in the final four it would be bigger...
…than the arrowhead game?
i would assume so.
but this is also assuming mizzou and kansas both could be #1 seeds, which is highly unlikely.

Yes
the Arrowhead game was essentially a national quarterfinal (like we are playing tomorrow)
the Final 4 would be bigger.

lets be honest here..
IF mizzou were to lose, would you rather have them lose to uconn NOW, or make the final four and lose to kansas.
neither is going to happen. so its strictly hypothetical.

by tigers and chiefs fan on Mar 27, 2009 9:59 PM CDT up reply actions
Much, much bigger
the only reason it might be close is because of WHERE it would be played. If it was in STL or KC, it wouldn’t even be close.

And the other thing is that
the ‘07 football game was huge with Bowl implications, etc. . . .but it wasn’t definitive of what would happen next. I mean we beat them and they got the BCS bowl. If we play them (and I can’t even believe I am talking about anything but the UConn game), the winner advances, the loser goes home.
