Mike Anderson signs a 7-year extension

Kudos to Gabe at PM for breaking the story first. (PowerMizzou subscribers will love this quote as well.  I won't spoil it.)  I've only got one thing to say:

I think that was going to happen regardless of what Calipari did...

but still, kind of a kick in the knickers on the same day you lose your coach and miss out on Anderson.

Now let's go steal some recruits!

What a great job by Alden, who I am very critical of, in signing both Pinkel and Anderson to well deserved extensions. Both programs can now maintain a similar level of success that those two coaches built. From famine to feast, what great news this is.

Heh, I hardly "run" anything.

Think of Rock M Nation as a (ta da!) baseball team.

rptgwb is the leadoff hitter; steady, does the job, gets on base, does the dirty work.

The Beef is the No. 2 hitter; the most undervalued player on the team because everyone’s looking toward the heart of the order, but often the most dangerous and consistent.

The Boy is the clean-up hitter; the heavy hitter, the one who brings the wood, the guy who swings for the fences and drives ’em in.

That, of course, leaves me.

I’m the bat boy. I’m totally negligible. If I weren’t there, nobody would really notice.

Mike Anderson gets what Mizzou is all about.

Missouri is a blue collar state that really seems to value hard work , discipline, and dedication. Mike Anderson has showed these values in the way that he’s rebuilt this team and I think he made a real statement to his commitment to those values with what he did today. It appears he turned down a lot of money today and I’m glad we have someone with that attitude representing our University in the national spotlight.

I’m looking forward to (at least) 7 great years!

By the way...am watching the Family Guy episode on atdhe.net right now

I dont know that I have ever laughed so hard at one of these. The Calvin and Hobbes and the kid from Star Trek doing Spalding from Caddyshack was insane

that's what I thought..

didn’t pay attention to the credits though… the lines they gave him made me think of Patrick Stewart on SNL and the erotic cakes sketch…

i shall not judge

i’ve watched 5 hours straight of real housewives of new york.

mr. jed is out of town and i’m soaking up the cattybitch stuff as much as i can while he’s gone.

I love 90210!

Yes, I am a girl. I like the new 90210 and recently discovered the original 90210 is online on the CBS website. Basically identical except for the bad clothes and cornier music in the original version. I think watching the original version might be more entertaining just to look at the outfits.

WOW...

Its hard to believe that people like Anderson really exist….truly practicing what he preaches…what a catch…Missouri is finally in good hands again!!!!!!

by mpfische on Mar 31, 2009 10:52 PM CDT reply actions

Are you Kidding?

I know there isn’t too many people out there setting an example like CMA does but Anderson just reeks of integrity.

From his start, Anderson has always beaten the mid-majors like a drum with less talent than QS had and Snyder’s teams always struggled with teams like Stetson, Oakland etc., so I always liked his coaching ability.

When you throw in the fact that he took on Nebraska in Columbia last year with seven guys. That’s all you really need to know about the guy as a man. He’s going to do what’s right.

I was 99.9% sure he would stay through the whole process for reasons I mentioned yesterday. I’m a little surprised it didn’t cost MU a little more to keep him but CMA is a big picture guy and he knows he’ll make far more with a much better quality of life right here in Missouri than any of the options his agent presented him with this week.
