Softball Twin Bill vs. UMR...er...whatever

UMR batting in the top of the 4th with a runner on 2nd after a leadoff double, still leading 2-0. They have 5 hits on the afternoon, while the Tigers have just 3.

5-6-7 coming up for the Tigers, who have Ubrun now on 2nd with Allen up and no outs in the bottom of the 4th

Jaydee Young reaches on an error by the pitcher, scoring Ubrun. Young then scores on a wild pitch, making it 2-2.

Delaney has retired the side in the 5th, Taylor led off and reached for Mizzou on an infield hit. She then promptly stole 2nd base, and sits there with no outs. Mizzou in good position to score the go-ahead run here.

Nottlemann has entered the game in the 6th to try to close out the Miners

and Mizzou already with action brewing and the top of the order up in the bottom of the inning.

Methinks there was a little speech delivered at some point this afternoon…..

Even though it says Allen is up and nothing has happened…but I guess we can say Mizzou has won Game 1

but gets the win, giving up 2 on 5 hits, K’ing 6. Nottlemann works a perfect 6th.

Hitting-wise, Taylor, Schneider, Schweisberger and Ubrun all had 2 hits on the day. The last three in that list also had 2 RBI’s a piece, and Taylor added 2 more SB’s

They are through 3 and a half, with Hainey having given up 2 hits in 4 innings with no walks and a couple of K’s. Mizzou has plated 3 runs, all in the bottom of the 3rd. Minner had an RBI double to score Schweisberger, and was driven in by a Christopher single after an Ubrun walk. Ubrun came around after Abby Vock had a single and an error.

And is through into the bottom of the 6th, now the owner of a 5-0 lead. Mizzou added two runs in the 4th off of a Schweisberger triple, Minner double and Ubrun single. Those three have combined to go 6-8 in the game with 5 runs scored and 3 RBI’s.

to make it 6-0 and Hainey completes out a 3-hit gem, giving the Tigers and sweep 6-0.

Mizzou improves to 38-5, with 30-3 against out of conference foes and 8-0 against teams from the state of Missouri, outscoring them 61-7 on the season.

Road games against TTech are next this weekend for the final road games. Tech is 14-34 overall and just 2-10 in the league, so even though these are on the road, it is a must sweep for Mizzou to keep the heat on the rest of the league
