Meme Madness: Revote!
UPDATE, 12:13 a.m. Friday: Voting has ended. Party Starter moves on after a 35-15 victory. Despite the trials, tribulations, and infighting, democracy has prevailed, and the people have spoken. May God continue to bless Meme Madness.
UPDATE, 9:02 a.m.: Voting has been reopened. All votes registered yesterday will be counted in today's totals, so there is no need to revote. Voting will end at midnight tonight. At the start of voting on Thursday morning, No. 4 Party Starter led No. 8 Laffy Taffy, 20-9.
Due to the recent uncovering of voter impropriety during yesterday's Boulevard Regional semifinal, Rock M Nation is calling for a revote between No. 4 Party Starter and No. 8 Laffy Saffy.
To prevent more stuffing of the ballot box, there will be no poll available. Registered Rock M Nation members will be able to vote in the comments section below. To vote, please comment in this thread with the subject line as either "Party Starter" or "Laffy Saffy."

Take out the 50 fraudulent votes.
And it’s still a tight one coming down the stretch.
Seeking a new signature...
And beyond that...
…how are we sure that Party Starter didn’t benefit from fraudulent voting? After all, 177 votes is an awful lot, more than twice what Grey Goose got.
Seeking a new signature...
Facts:
Along with leghumpingjihadkiller, I was watching the sheer spike in vote totals around the time between 11:31 p.m. and 12:25 a.m. last night, the time during which the offending visitor was on Rock M.
During those 54 minutes, we watched the vote swing massively in favor of Laffy Saffy, as votes were coming at a rate of about four votes per minute almost exclusively in his favor.
So the question is
What was everyone doing between 11:31pm and 12:25am last night?
"Wherever you go, there you are" - Buckaroo Bonzai
So we're supposed to simply ignore...
…that Party Starter received 59 more votes than any previous entrant, and 100 more votes than it received the first time around?
Seeking a new signature...
This is EXACTLY why...
… we’ve come back to a polling system that can be monitored. The fraudulent voting for Laffy Saffy isn’t an indictment of that meme, but an indictment of yesterday’s votes as a whole.
The results of yesterday have become null and void.
And what about the people who don't comment, but lurk?
As of right now, 29 votes have been cast. In the previous polls, there have been an average of around 100 votes.
Seeking a new signature...
29 votes in only 2.5 hours. Extrapolate that over the ~18 hours these usually run.
Lurkers are more than welcome to sign up. There’s no minimum number of comments necessary to register a vote.
Anonymous voting had to be sacrificed for the sake of the revote. I implore you to come up with a better system/argument that’s not a function of your innate desire to push Laffy Saffy through.
There's no innate desire for anything.
My argument is simply that this is taking a result and throwing it out the window based on flimsy evidence at best. We don’t know who that guy voted for, and we especially don’t know who this other guy from Middletown, NY voted for.
It doesn’t seem fair to throw out results and instead institute a hurried, exclusive vote that represents maybe 50% of the participating community and perhaps 25% of the readers.
But if you want to pooh-pooh away my wholly valid points as “a function of [my] innate desire to push Laffy Saffy through,” be my guest. It’s your world, chief.

A reminder, Laffy Saffy supporters.
Regardless of today’s outcome, we have fought the righteous fight. We have prevented a shadow government from holding private, exclusive elections, and allowed the Light of Freedom to shine in all portions of the Internet.
Our voices will be heard, and that is cause for celebration. We, the beacons of liberty, have prevailed.
Let freedom ring.

size your images
if you are pulling it from a URL, how do you do that? I’m guilty of posting ‘too-large’ images….

Lessons from his post:
1. Don’t steal bandwidth (aka hotlinking) – host your image on another site like tinypic or photobucket
2. use width or height tags in the img src html code to size the image.

purposely too
1. I’m hacking a internet connection, which is really shady right now, so I didn’t want to bother with the download/upload business
2. I was satisfied with the size (384×387) so I didn’t resize.
3. ghtd needs a hug…

If I vote again today...
will I totally disrupt the process, causing this to Meme Madness to go into the ring, ala old school wrestling style? A best of three falls between ghtd36 and rptgwb?
Because if that is the next step, then I’m gonna revote right here and now!!!

Just because there’s no way party starter’s votes were all legitimate, either, and I voted for party starter the first time around.
This really is silly, even beyond meme meaninglessness, since party starter (the clear winner here) will get THRASHED in the next round.
