MU student going for National Title (kinda)

Laura Myers, a Magazine Journalism Senior from Richmond, VA competes in the Jeopardy College Tournament Finals today and Friday.  She ran away with her Q-Final match-up and came from behind in the semis on Tuesday.

I'm still waiting to hear if we get Border War Showdown points for beating KU head-to-head, but I certainly think this should count as a National Championship if she wins.

Laura is the 3rd Mizzou student to compete, but the first to make it past the quarterfinals.

Also, some seriously delusional sour grapes from the Kansas student she beat whipped on whose ass she kicked in round 1.  Seriously?  The KU football team winning is more important to you than winning on Jeopardy?  I call BS.

Came in 3rd place.

And is also, incidentally, a friend of Beef’s and The Boy’s, was a 1-day champion. About 2 1/2 years ago.

Oh, and my wife passed the on-line test

and was invited to the Omaha auditions last summer. Unfortunately, it was like, 4 months after our son was born, so she decided not to go.

I think the KU guy

Is bitter because he’s Liberal Arts Major, and she’s a Journalism Major…

Well maybe not

Qualified for College Tournament sometime ago but couldn’t make the trek from Minnesota to KC for the auditions. Wanted to be the first feller from Community College to get on TV.

I'm the guy that keeps Mr. Death in his pocket.

BS

Yep, classic KU fan.

“I really don’t care about loosing” and the part he left out, because I am so high right now I’m pretty sure Mario Chalmers just winked at me from across the bar…..yeah I’m kind of a big deal.

Geeze, you lost on national television and all you have to say is, ‘well if it were sports’. It is a type of sport you moron!!!! It’s a competition of perhaps the strongest ‘muscle’ humans have, our brains!!!!

……….and you lost.

Don’t get me wrong, I am amazed at the people that are on there, even the people that don’t win. I sure could not do that.

But come on dude. Brushing it off like it didn’t matter at all, is sorta ridiculous. I mean this Mizzou student is still making money as she is going thru the rounds, and in this day and age, money can help a ton!!!

I tried out

for Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Military Week several years ago. They gave a 30 question multiple choice test to 119 people during my session. 3 made it to the next round. I was not one of them.

Coworker Story

His sister was on, and was winning, bet almost everything on final jeopardy.

Question was: What’s the longest river in the world

Her Answer: Mississippi

She lost

She's going to be on our show today at 4:15

She currently sits in 3rd place after day 1 behind some NERD from Notre Dame and some NERD from Emory.

Though, the nerd from ND is from St. Louis

The kid from Emory is a super-nerd. Laura is very cute (sorry, no picture available – watch today).
