Who's singing the tune?

I'm the guy that keeps Mr. Death in his pocket.

During the 1997 game it’s the Gregorian Monks.
During the 2003 game it’s Nonpoint.

How can people not like your taste in music

Who in the world can seamlessly match two differing covers of the same Genesis song? From Monks to a heavy metal band no less.

I mean come on!!!

(but actually Nonpoint kicks ass, so if some people don’t like it, that can sit and spin. SIT and then SPIN)

That was my first year in Columbia, 2003

But it was still awesome

I have a piece of that goal post...

along with a piece of one when we beat kU…I just don’t remember what year that was…

Due to bad luck/poor planning on my part ...

… I missed both of those games. The Nebraska ‘97 game, I rolled my ankle in a rec league basketball game and was layed up on my couch watching as we almost did the unthinkable. I still remember the sheer euphoria from watching Corby roll out and find Eddie Brooks wide open in the fourth quarter (and then being pissed like hell when we didn’t convert the third down or when Al Sterling’s interception was ruled incomplete).

The ‘03 game, I was in a hotel room in Milwaukee. For some reason, when I booked my maiden voyage to Green Bay to watch the Chiefs play, I didn’t really check the Mizzou schedule. As a consolation prize at least, I got to watch in person the Chiefs come back and beat the Pack in overtime. But that was a pretty poor consolation prize considering 25 years of pent-up frustration against the Fuskers.

God damn, I do remember that Chiefs game the next day

I got back to KC around 5am, slept for like 5 hours, then went to Minsky’s on Barry Road to watch the game with a couple of friends (one of which had been with me at the Mizzou game) and I couldn’t talk. I had absolutely no voice at all. I had to point at the menu to order, because I couldn’t talk. So we’re cheering for that huge 4th quarter comeback and OT win (wasn’t it a defensive TD in OT?) and all I can do is basically make hand gestures because I couldn’t yell my support.

Oh it was so worth it. My season tickets then (as they are still) are in section C, right next to the visitors section. I was so, So, SO happy to watch all of those damn nubs fans leaving in the middle of the 4th. OH HOW I LOVED THAT!

thoughts upon watching this for the 204th time...

1) Watch the sidelines during the 2003 clips. I’ve never seen a team as psyched for a game as Mizzou was in ’03. It almost backfired on them for the first three quarters.

2) The three most chaotic moments I’ve ever felt in the stands in a game at Faurot were Brooks’ go-ahead TD in ‘97, Kinney’s sack of Lord and the ensuing fumble, and the fake field goal. Just an unreal scene during those events.

3) As great as Brad Smith was in that ’03 game, James Kinney may have been even better.

I was at the '97 game as a student...

Sat on the Front Row on the North 20 Yard line. I was SO ready to charge the field but then I saw the ball go in the air…ARGHHH!!!!

I was in the 14th row of the student section...

…when it looked like the ball was deflected away from Wiggins, there was a surge and I involuntarily ended up on the 2nd row after the official’s hands went up in the air signaling touchdown. We were so freaking crammed in there.

You were about 10 yards from me, then

As I was 2nd row (with my foot on the wall, by the time the last drive rolled around) between the 5 and 10.

I was actually past the photographers and almost in the endzone when I realized the ref was signaling TD.

I remember the '03 nebraska game.

that drizzle O THAT DRIZZLE. thank god for the drizzle!!, that’s what made nu fumble at least 2 kickoffs. I remember waiting after every mizzou kickoff for nu to fumble it, and it never failed that they did.what a game . WHAT A GAME
