ZouDave gets vindictive

Mizzou v. Nebraska 2008

30 years? ZouDave cares not for you. Luckily, neither did the Tigers when they went up to Lincoln last season.

I think this game sticks out the most for me from this season

Heading into it, I was confident we were the better team, but was really, really nervous as we got close to game time. What made matters worse was that I cover high school sports and had to cover a high school football game that night.

I got to the school early enough that I could sit in my car and listen to half the first quarter in my car on my Sirius radio before the high school game started. After Maclin scored that first touchdown on like the second play, I think I scared the crap out of some kids walking past my car heading to the football field from shaking my car, I was bouncing and yelling so much. Then Nebraska scored, and was worried we were headed for a dogfight, and I had to head out to start covering my game. I was a nervous wreck covering my game, and I snuck back to my car at halftime to check the radio for a score to find we were firmly in control.

Even though I didn’t get to watch any of it, I’ll never forget this game, especially Maclin’s opening touchdown.

Oh, and great job ZouDave, your video really captures the domination of that game.

Thank You! Thank You!

OH YA that was a great day!

My dad has been going to N praying to beat the huskers for as long as I have been alive and that is 30 years. He said he would do it all over again if he had to.

I still think when we beat them at home 10/11/03 was a greater day but of course I was there plus the thrill of watching MU come back from behind to win and N was ranked #10.

I even have the poster/picture of the goal post coming down (that is the poster MU banned) completely autographed by every player and coach from that game framed in glass hanging on my wall. One of my most prized possessions!

Thank You again ZouDave for putting that video together!!

DOMINATE is a understatement for what we did…

This video is tight, one of your best ...

… hopefully that night is not the apex of my memories of Mizzou football (hopefully there’s even better memories of what’s to come). But being in Lincoln for that game was incredible (sitting among the throng of Husker fans with just a buddy … we were literally just a dot of gold in a sea of red). I was very confident heading into the game but I had seen us lose winnable games in Lincoln before.

But seeing the air come out of that stadium when Maclin housed that first TD (not to mention when Brock Christopher picked-6 it and everyone in the stadium knew it was over) was so worth it.

Then the surreal happened. The best fans in the world cleared out of their own stadium with five minutes left in the third quarter. And then after the game, instead of being angry or vindictive towards me and my buddy (and the other Mizzou fans), almost to a man, Nebraska fans were complimentary. I couldn’t understand it. I fully expected to hear one-in-30 or five-national-titles or whatever. But they just took their beating and worshipped at the throne of CD, Maclin, Coffman and D-Wash. Amazing. Their in-person demeanor is so much different than their internet persona (Nebraska fans, that is … I find this strange because I’m basically an a-hole on the net or in person).

I want to know...

what Maclin was saying towards the fans in that corner of the endzone after he “in your faced” that ball to the ground on the opening TD. I’m pretty sure it was something to the tune of “Stay here, I’ll be right back.”

I remember when Maclin got into a fistycuff with one of the NU defenders....

that’s when i started to wonder; what is going on in the pile? what’s being said?

But guess what, it didn’t matter!!!!! I forgot how many sweet runs DWash had.

I am reminded that we have a solid running game coming this year, with a pretty darn good O line. Those are the perfect ingredients for a good 1st year from a new QB.

MIZZOU!!
