Julia Potter at the NCAA East Regional Golf Championships

Junior Julia Potter started her quest to make the NCAA Championships early this morning, teeing off from the 10th hole down at the Mark Bostic Golf Courst at the University of Florida.  I am not entirely sure what she needs to achieve to make the NCAA's, but she is off to a good start.  Currently, she is +1 through 15 holes, tied for 17th overall (leader is at -3).  I will keep this thread updated throughout the rest of the week and weekend to track her rounds and results.

Her round so far...

Potter started off with 3 straight pars on the morning before bogeying the par 4 13th. She would fall to +2 when she bogeyed the par 4 16th, but responded with a birdie on the par 4 17th. Since then, she has reeled off 7 straight pars and sits at +1 on the 7th hole (par 5).

Potter runs the par streak to 9...

before bogeying the par 4 9th hole to finish the round at +2 (72). Right now, that puts her tied for 21st, though she was out in one of the first groups (as half the field has yet to tee off). It will be interesting to see how the score holds up as the day progresses.

day 1 is winding down and it looks like Potter

will be 4 shots off the lead at +2, about 20-25th out of over 100 golfers. A solid 1st round for her.

Potter will tee off Round 2 around 11:40 eastern time

The +2 held up to keep her inside the top 25….will see how she follows it up today

Potter is on the course for round 2

(her score of 72 matches the low round she had posted at an NCAA Championship tournament)

Starting on the front 9 today, Potter started by parring the first 3 holes. She bogeyed the par 4 4th and 5th holes, and now sits at +4 through the front 9. That is still good enough for being around the top 20, as the leader is -2.

Potter struggles on start of back 9

she bogeys three of the first 4 holes before coming out of it with a birdie on the par 4 14th. She now sits at +6, +4 for the round. She is tied for 29th on the day. The leader is -3, though the next closest is even. Potter did bogey the 16th yesterday, but also birdied the 17th

RMN jinx at its finest...

leads to Potter bogeying the 17th (while parring the rest) to finish the round +5 and put her at +7 for the tournament. That is good for a tie for 29th overall, and she is dead even with the two other single golfers. Final round is tomorrow

Round 3 for Potter going well so far

She is on the course having started on the back, which she shot even on with one birdie and one bogey. She has three more pars since making the turn and still sits at +7, which is 7 shots off the lead and is good enough for 24th right now. She is also shooting the best of any of the “teamless” golfers there. Squeezing out another birdie and letting some of the field fall through her as she is in the clubhouse could result in a nice finish for her.

RMN jinx in full effect again...

Potter bogeys three of the last four holes to finish the round at +3 and the tournament at +10. Right now, that has her in tied for 34th overall. Not sure what happens next for her, but I am guessing that might be the season.
