Kyle Gibson, the starter from Mizzou that has been projected as high as the second pick by some and is a consensus top ten in most mocks, may see his status fall. Gibson has a stress fracture in his pitching forearm. During his last outing, his velocity was down and many worried there was an elbow problem. A source tells me that Gibson had an MRI that found the stress fracture, but no damage to tendons or ligaments in or near the elbow. Gibson will be shut down for five weeks, but was said to be planning to shut down for a month even prior to the injury.
BP injury guru Will Carroll on Gibson's arm. I'd have to wager that he's dropped out of the top 15 in the draft at this point, and I have to wonder if he'll at least consider going the Sheppers route and playing independent ball next year to prove that his arm is fine.

He shouldn't drop that far
I mean, a forearm injury isn’t nearly as serious as an elbow or shoulder, but if a teams could find a safer pick in terms of injury concerns than Gibson if they’re drafting in the first 20 or so picks.

Given the Cubs' history of having good, young pitchers with arm problems...
Let’s hope he doesn’t end up on the North Side.

Much of that was with Dusty
who was notorious for ignoring pitch counts. Don’t know if Sweet Lou is quite that bad. Then again, I’d like to see Kyle win a championship during his career, so that’s another reason I’d like to see him not fall to the Baby Bears.
Nomination for the "It Was Only A Matter Of Time..." Award: Carlos Zambrano was suspended for "Inappropriate and violent actions on the field and in the dugout."
Only guy crazier than Carlos Zambrano in baseball is Julian Tavarez
Hopefully the Royals get him
we need more pitching. And when Bryce Harper goes pro, we need the first pick in the draft.
