going to a game at the horseshoe...

i may have mentioned on here that my wife is from columbus and went to ohio state.  we've made a couple of trips there in the last 2 years, but haven't been to a football game yet.  i was a little bummed that our trip last fall was an away weekend (we went to bww to watch the ohio st-wisconsin game, at least i was able to watch mizzou destroy nebraska on a little tv in the corner with no sound).  i was kinda whiny about it, but no big deal.  so for my birthday this year, her parents send me a card saying they entered the alumni ticket lottery for us to go to a game this fall.  i thought, 'ok, cool', but figured it would be against youngstown st or something.  we found out this week they got tickets for the usc game.  u-s-frickin-c versus ohio state.  needless to say i am excited about that matchup!  i'm sure it will be a crazy atmosphere for that game.

cool I drove through OSU's campus about a month ago.

That stadium is indeed very large.

Wow...that is going to be awesome

I went to Ohio State when we played there in 1997. We sat at the end of the stadium in what was then just very large, temporary bleachers. Of course, Mizzou more than held their own for awhile in that game, but Ohio State finally took control in the 3rd quarter. At that point, the wooden, old bleachers we were sitting in the 72nd row of starting to gently sway back and forth. I have never been so scared in my entire life.

Campus was nice enough, though not a lot of grass. Great system of house parties there, as people on each street just take turns hosting and so you never have to pay to go to just ONE party. Worked out well for us…

I was there in 99 on a roadtrip

great campus, beautiful. Didn’t go to a football game, but went to a OSU-Michigan hockey game across the street from the Horseshoe. Great atmosphere, and the ’Shoe is a beautiful stadium (at least from the outside).

I grew up in Columbus and went to a ton of games there as a kid.

My dad was in the band, and I think it is one of the best game-day experiencies there is (for any normal game). For the USC game, it will be something much different.

I took my brother to the OSU/Texas game a few years back. It was estimated that there were a MILLION people around the stadium that day (all drinking HUGE BEERS) leading up to the game that night. By game-time, I couldn’t hear my brother right next to me without actually having him shout in my ear. It was easily twice as loud as any building I’ve ever been in.

Grab some “huge beers” at Hineygate, play some “cornhole,” and do yourself a favor and go see the “Skull Session” with the band in St. John’s Arena across from the stadium before the game. Tressel brings his team in to pay respect to the band, says a few words, then marches the team out.

Now, the atmosphere may be a bit apprehensive (considering how the big boys have treated tOSU in recent years), but that is one of the few MUST ATTEND games of the college football year.

have fun.

WOW that is going to be amazing

I went to an IOWA/Michigan game and it was pretty cool, but this is going to be rediculous

Is there any room in your suit case? I’ll cut off my legs to fit……
