Saw this on Dave's twitter page
I'm not a journalist, but there are some parallels to some issue we in the scientific community are having with availability of published reports (data generated by way of government funds is going to free distributed to the public...and the publishing houses that run our print articles aren't too pleased). Personally, this is a bunch of bunk. I wonder how it would effect the folks from Rivals and other websites.

As many have said...
It’s another scary step in major college football’s evolution into the blandness of pro football thanks to the growing influence of corporate ties.
I can’t possibly figure out how the SEC (I’m sorry, SSSSSS EEEEEE SEEEEE) of all conferences can feel threatened by media. They just announced the media deal to crush all media deals. National outlets park in their backyards and promote their product for five straight months with no questions asked. Sure, there’s always some modicum of risk with certain media, but why handcuff what’s helped expand your reach and sell your product?

It's not the message
But who gets to deliver the message. With the HUGE media deal that was reached, I reckon EPSN and others feel justified in mandating that only they get to actually report. And with print media going in the tank, it’s a good time to start monopolizing. I kinda wonder if and when the lawsuits start (week 5?).

yeah, I assume the SEC wasn't driving this...
…but was happy to give ESPN whatever stipulations they wanted to make.
